Consultant Technologist, Point of Care Testing, IQMHTerms: 18-month ContractSalary: Commensurate with experienceABOUT THE ROLE:The Consultant Technologist is a member of IQMH’s Proficiency Testing team. The Consultant Technologist is responsible for planning, designing, preparing, and coordinating proficiency testing models. The Consultant Technologist analyzes statistical data from participating laboratories and presents summarized data, technical reports, and discordant findings investigations to the Scientific Committees for discussion, follow-up corrective actions, and committee comments.Main Responsibilities:Aligning PT activities with the ISO/IEC 17043 standard, the CT plans, designs, develops, validates, coordinates survey materials, and manages the delivery of PT surveys to participating laboratories in collaboration with Scientific Committees.Utilizing various software tools (QView Office, QView Client, Paradigm), the CT develops and analyzes data and organizes the information in reports to be reviewed at Scientific Committee meetings.Plans, prepares reports, coordinates, and assists in the facilitation of PT meetings (Scientific Committee meetings, PT Survey Planning and Professional Advisory Committee (PAC) meetings, and internal/external audits).Continuously monitors and manages the electronic documentation of participating laboratories' performance.Responsible for accurate database information around laboratory instrumentation from manufacturer websites.Collaborates with Scientific Committees to guide laboratory practices through publications and communications (abstracts, posters, consensus practice recommendations, and professional development courses).Collaborates with and provides direction and support to internal and external clients.Assist and possibly lead the delivery of additional PT programs in different disciplines or sufficient flexibility to take on the administration of other programs in other disciplines as required.Engage in Product Development activities to expand the reach and impact of routine and point-of-care programs.Assist with product research and competitor analysis to understand consumer preferences for high-growth surveys.Define product specifications, features, and performance requirements based on market demands.Conduct testing to validate product design and functionality.Monitor product development timelines and quality standards.Manage product documentation, including technical specifications, user manuals, and other marketing collaterals.Must Have Qualifications:General Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT) obtained from an accredited Medical Laboratory Technology program.Successful completion of the MLT certification exam provided by the Canadian Society of Medical Laboratory Science.A member in good standing with CMLTO.At least 10 years recent experience as a general medical laboratory technologist with significant chemistry, hematology and point of care testing experience in a medical laboratory setting.Strong innovation skills to facilitate new product development and expansion of the chemistry proficiency testing program.Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational and meeting facilitation skills.Excellent customer service and client engagement skills.Excellent skills with Microsoft 365 Office (especially Word and Excel).Team player committed to collaborative approach, as well as ability to work independently.Desired Qualifications:Knowledge and understanding of quality control practice and associated statistics.Quality Assurance/Quality Management certification.A good understanding and application of quality management systems and cause analysis.WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT:In Your First 30-90 Days:Complete our orientation program with other new hires to learn about HSO, our values of trust, inclusion, collaboration, innovation and learning, and our mission of quality improvement in healthcare and social services.Set your performance and learning objectives for the year in collaboration with your people manager.Meet regularly with your people manager to discuss your learning progression and alignment for your accountabilities.Take on assigned initiatives or projects for your role.What We Can Offer To You:Competitive compensation and benefits, including a defined benefit pension plan.Time off programs, including office shutdown during last week of December.A culture that measures and values psychological safety, inclusion and engagement.WHO WE ARE AND WHAT WE DO:Health Standards Organization (HSO) and our affiliates Accreditation Canada (AC) and the Institute for Quality Management in Healthcare (IQMH) are global, not-for-profit organizations.
