Learn more at shn.ca Job Description: Position Overview: Reporting to the Associate Vice President, People, the Manager is a key expert resource in achieving SHN’s strategic direction to build a culture that empowers and inspires our people. The Manager plays a lead role in identifying, diagnosing and developing strategies for the Organizational Development department; serves as an expert advisor to all levels of management and staff; advocates innovation, learning and growth that supports organizational effectiveness and support for change. The Manager, Organizational Development is responsible for supporting a team of eight subject matter experts and managing department programs including: leadership development, new hire onboarding, e-learning, tuition assistance, organizational-wide engagement and recognition and library services. This is a critical strategic role that will be integral to supporting our teams, improving retention and fostering engagement and professional growth across SHN. Responsibilities: The successful candidate will manage the Organizational Development program according to approved policy, standard work instructions and best practices for SHN through the following activities: Develops, plans and implements organization-wide and department-specific recognition and engagement programs, action plans and evaluations In alignment with SHN’s leadership capability framework (LEADS), recommends, and supports the development and delivery of leadership education and programming that shape workplace culture and employee engagement; this includes regular leadership forums for People Leaders and professional staff Assesses organizational change impacts and recommends strategies to build internal capacity to manage change Advances leadership development, performance management and succession planning strategies Oversees our New Hire Orientation and new hire onboarding that reflects best practices Manages service delivery for the Tuition Assistance program and other OD sponsored learning initiatives Oversees regular engagement surveys for employees, professional staff and volunteers; identifies strategies to support leaders and staff to increase engagement, department effectiveness and a positive workplace culture Develops and oversees the Workday e-learning strategy for the organization that defines appropriate learning methodologies to address business needs and provide results-focused learning solutions Acts as a resource person for information/coaching related to personal and professional development Conducts needs analysis to identify corporate training needs and objectives as well as department-specific training needs Manages assigned Learning projects including: scope, timelines, billings and deliverables Collaborates with internal and external resources including vendors, subject matter experts, IT, and Communications to ensure successful completion of projects Leverages various communications mediums to enhance the access and effectiveness of OD programming Maintains OD department policies, procedures and best practices for operational effectiveness Maintains and reports key metrics related to OD, demonstrating the link to our People Strategy and SHN’s strategic direction Leads and participates in organizational assemblies such as leadership forum, manager’s forum, town halls and organizational committees, as required Manages special projects/initiatives within OD and works in collaboration with the broader People Services Leadership on various projects Requirements: University Degree, relevant program of studies in Adult education, Industrial-Organizational Psychology, Organizational Behaviour, Learning and Development or equivalent work experience Minimum 5-7 years of relevant experience with Organizational Development, Organizational Behavior or Organizational Change Management preferably within a hospital or healthcare environment 3-5 years' people leadership experience. Experience in change management, including organizational culture change and operational change Demonstrated excellent communication (oral and written), interpersonal, and organizational skills Highly proficient in facilitation, mediation and conflict resolution skills Strong presentation and analytical skills Demonstrates an independent and self-directed work history while possessing the ability to work collaboratively with a wide variety of stakeholders Proven ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously with projects on the go Possesses a track record of creativity and innovation in solving problems Ability to effectively interact and build relationships with cross-functional stakeholders and demonstrates a high level of Emotional Intelligence Demonstrated ability to exercise tact and sound professional judgment when responding to matters concerning sensitive personal information Accommodation and Diversity Statement: Scarborough Health Network (SHN) embraces and celebrates our community’s unique multicultural heritage and diversity.
