Overview: Avison Young is currently seeking a Managing Director to manage and grow our Vancouver and British Columbia operations and who will report directly to the President, Canada. Preferred candidates have experience with mergers & acquisitions, recruiting licensed professionals, training, and growing our emerging leaders, and possess excellent leadership skills. The successful candidate must demonstrate strong business acumen and be able to lead and manage with expertise and credibility. The Managing Director acts as a corporate advocate for Avison Young and must understand, communicate, and promote the Avison Young mission. The candidate should participate in and expect frequent communication and engagement with others. Versatility is desired as much time will be spent bringing together a multitude of talents and must be willing to adapt the talents to changing assignments as required. The successful candidate will be people-oriented and have significant experience working with a wide range of people, from diverse backgrounds, and possess ability to achieve 'win-win' outcomes. As the job requires assertiveness and a 'will to win' in dealing with highly competitive situations, a competitive attitude is key. The base salary is aligned with market data and is estimated between $250,000 to $300,000 with the ability to achieve additional compensation through a bonus. Within this range, individual pay is determined by work location and other factors, including relevant education/training, experience, and internal equity. Responsibilities: Identifies and engages targeted companies, recruits, and hires high-performing Brokers and Staff for employment or acquisition and maximizes retention. Help resources, prepare, and participate in major business development opportunities. Engage our emerging leaders and sales associate program, helping to train and develop Avison Young’s young professionals. Understands financial, HR, legal, administrative, operational, sales resources, and systems and applies this acumen by investing time and effort to effectively achieve EBITDA targets. Accountable for Vancouver business budgeting process and associated responsibilities. Understands and manages brokerage, property management, project management, lease administration and consulting activities. Develops, manages, inspires, coaches, mentors, and supports Brokers and Staff to achieve team, cultural, operational, and revenue goals. Shows high emotional intelligence and creativity, solving people & deal transaction issues in a timely manner. Is a credible expert among experts and has a positive reputation in the market and within the organization. Must stay engaged, visible, competent, fair, people-savvy, influential, and persuasive to advance the business, culture and standing of Avison Young. Promote and lead engagement with all staff in the company’s corporate initiatives & programs. Champion, defend and advance the Avison Young brand and culture both internally and in the market, promoting and protecting its reputation, health, and overall value of the enterprise at all times. Understands and embraces our goal of being globally consistent and locally relevant by effectively using communications and the ability to promote Avison Young mission, goals, and strategies, making them relevant to Brokers and Staff by integrating corporate messages and goals into communications (literature, presentations, website, discussions, meetings, recruiting ads, and retention efforts), while encouraging participation in Affinity Groups. Show the demonstrated abilities to develop and maintain business relationships within various industry, civic, and trade associations through membership and participation. Qualifications: Minimum of 10 years of management experience in Commercial Real Estate. Broker’s Real Estate license is required. Brokerage experience would be an asset. Education: BA/BS in Business, Finance, Real Estate, or related field. MBA preferred.
