Reporting to the Manager, Virtual Care, the Virtual Care Specialist will bring evidence-informed knowledge of virtual care practices and processes to lead complex projects that will advance the strategic priorities of the Virtual Care Operations Team and the Virtual Care agenda at Hamilton Health Sciences (HHS). This position plays a key role in partnering with clinical and physician leadership, as well as corporate support functions as a virtual care subject matter expert to seamlessly integrate virtual care solutions into the clinical service delivery models of areas across HHS.

This position may be eligible for a hybrid remote work arrangement, in accordance with HHS’ Remote Work Policy.

The Virtual Care Specialist will provide support with a lens of continuous quality improvement and service-centered focus in an effort to enhance and drive process improvements with both the Virtual Care Operations Team and programs, units and teams across HHS.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Lead complex projects, programs and process improvements by acting as the subject matter expert in virtual care practices and solutions;
- Effectively engage and partner with other leaders, teams and internal partners (stakeholders and other subject matter experts) to advance virtual care practice;
- Provide subject matter expertise and guidance to clinical operational areas (e.g. clinical managers, physician leaders, teams) to support a seamless integration of virtual care practice into service delivery models to spread and sustain virtual practice;
- Lead and/or support the HHS strategic agenda including the transformation agenda and Project Odyssey, as it relates to virtual care;
- Other ad hoc duties, such as providing education and training, data collection and analysis, evaluate solutions and progress, partner with Virtual Care team members, and support the Manager, Virtual Care as required

Qualifications

Education and Work Experience:
- Undergraduate degree in related field required; Master’s degree in related field preferred; and/or equivalent related work experience
- 5+ years related work experience, such as experience with virtual care and clinical operations, in a health care sector or academic institution
- 5+ years project leadership experience with large, complex change projects; formal project management training an asset
- 5+ years leading active and effective stakeholder engagement and partnership with various competing stakeholder groups
- Experience working with senior leadership and effectively strengthening relationships
- Experience in and/or experience supporting clinical operations required
- LEAN, Six Sigma or CQI process improvements training
- Advanced capability in Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint

Skills and Abilities:
- Advanced knowledge and/or experience with providing and/or supporting virtual care practices and solutions required
- Proven ability to influence and lead others, project teams, and stakeholder groups
- Sound consulting, facilitation and advisory skills
- Proven planning, program and process design ability
- Proven ability to build relationships and partnerships with key stakeholders; including the ability to navigate conflicting interests
- High level of critical thinking skills and effective stakeholder engagement to gain necessary buy-in for project success
- Strong planning and organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail
- Excellent interpersonal, influence and communication skills
- Strong results orientation and enthusiastic energy; must be able to thrive in a fast paced work environment
- Ability to work with little supervision; organize and establish priorities within multiple projects and tasks, demonstrated ability to meet project and task deadlines and adjust quickly to changing requirements

-Able to deliver services both in-person and virtually to teams at various Hamilton Health Sciences sites.
