One of our clients in Missisauga, ON is looking for a Network Engineer for their facility.

- **Network Design and Implementation:**
- Design and deploy functional networks (LAN, WLAN, WAN) tailored to a manufacturing environment.
- Configure and install software, servers, routers, switches, firewalls, and other network devices.
- Ensure the integration of network systems with manufacturing equipment and automation systems.
- **Network Maintenance:**
- Monitor network performance to ensure system availability and reliability, focusing on minimizing downtime in the manufacturing process.
- Perform network maintenance and system upgrades, including service packs, patches, hotfixes, and security configurations.
- Troubleshoot network issues and outages, providing level 2/3 support, ensuring quick resolution to avoid production delays.
- **Security:**
- Implement and manage network security measures to protect manufacturing data, software, and hardware.
- Ensure network security through the use of firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPNs, and other security protocols.
- Regularly perform security monitoring to identify possible intrusions, focusing on protecting proprietary manufacturing processes and data.
- **Optimization and Improvement:**
- Optimize network performance by monitoring performance, troubleshooting network problems and outages, scheduling upgrades, and collaborating with network architects on network optimization specific to manufacturing needs.
- Conduct regular performance tuning, capacity planning, and redundancy strategies to ensure robust support for manufacturing operations.
- **Documentation and Reporting:**
- Maintain accurate network documentation and diagrams, with an emphasis on network configurations integrated with manufacturing systems.
- Generate and analyze reports on network performance, security, and capacity, highlighting any impact on manufacturing processes.
- **Technical Skills:**
- Proficiency with network hardware such as routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points.
- Strong understanding of network infrastructure and network hardware, specifically in a manufacturing context.
- Knowledge of networking protocols (e.g., IPSEC, HSRP, BGP, OSPF, 802.11, QoS).
- Experience with network diagnostic, monitoring, and analysis tools (e.g., SolarWinds, Wireshark).
- Familiarity with network security practices and tools.
- Understanding of manufacturing automation systems (e.g., SCADA, PLCs) and their networking requirements.

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Relevant certifications such as Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP), CompTIA Network+, or similar are highly desirable.
- Proven experience as a Network Engineer or Network Administrator.
- Hands-on experience with network administration, including routing, switching, and security.
- Experience in a manufacturing environment is highly preferred.
- Experience with cloud services (AWS, Azure) and virtual networking is a plus.
