Job Opportunity:
We are looking for a Fluid Power Designer to design pneumatic and fluid power systems and schematics for custom automated assembly equipment. This job involves collaboration with the other Design and Build departments to design safe, creative, and cost-effective pneumatic control systems.
What you’ll do:
Review machine concept and function with Mechanical Design, Electrical Design, Controls group and the Mechanical Machine Builders
Participate and provide leadership in Machine Safety Risk Assessments with the Project team
Identify and evaluate System Risks, required System Performance Levels (Pl), and apply safety solutions to reduce the machine risk to acceptable levels
Design fluid power systems for projects:
Apply fluid power industry design standards (CSA-Z432 Machine Safeguarding, CSA-Z434 Industrial Robots, CSA-Z142 Power Press)
Design air prep assemblies according to system size and requirements
Confirm that proper control of circuits has been provided, ie: flow controls, P.O. check valves, open/closed center valves etc.
Verify required design intent matches system architecture
Complete air consumption calculations on individual circuits, stations and entire systems as necessary
Generate fluid power drawing packages and Bill of Materials for Purchasing
Work with Technical Manual writer to ensure that proper drawings and documentation are available for project manuals prior to machine shipping
Prioritize multiple projects, utilizing time management with respect to all phases of a project
Occasional travel as required globally
What you’ll need:
Minimum Diploma in Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering or Equivalent Specialized Experience
Minimum 5 Years’ Work Experience related to Fluid Power Design
Proficient in EPLAN with Fluid add on, AutoCAD LT, Edrawings
MS Office Software Knowledge (Word, Excel)
Good understanding of pneumatics and fluid power engineering
