As a Datacenter Administrator within our organization, you’ll do just that.The successful candidate will require an aptitude for working with datacenter hardware to undertake planning, installation, diagnosis, and resolution of problems, which may range from straightforward to more complicated technical issues. There is also a range of administrative duties within this role. Above all, the Datacenter Administrator will provide excellent client service at all times.Key Responsibilities First point of contact for datacenter support requests via telephone, web portal, and emailRacking of datacenter equipment into cabinetsResponsible for datacenter equipment inventoryCreate and maintain documentation such as operation manuals, rack diagrams and photos, floorplans, and contact information.Manage and coordinate access control requests to the datacenter and cabinets.Respond to alerts from datacenter environment.Coordinate 3rd party vendors for repairs to datacenter systemsGenerate reports for datacenter monitoring systems.Plan the placement of new datacenter equipment based on established guidelines.Ensure datacenter and inventory polices are adhered to.Identify any policies or processes that are missing and should be created.Hands-on repair of equipmentAssembling, installing and maintenance of cabling within the datacenter and cabinetsTroubleshoot issues and find ways to continually improve services and processes.Keep customers informed on the status of requests/incidents.Evaluate customer priority and impact and escalate issues to senior support if required.Use datacenter tools and diagnostic utilities to aid in troubleshooting.Research solutions through internal and external knowledgebaseIdentify, prioritize, and perform work activities based on the changing needs of the work environment.Clearly compose and deliver verbal and written information for technical and non-technical audiences to convey, explain, and educate customers on technical information and products.Document all requests/incidents in a service management system, including all successful and unsuccessful decisions made and actions taken, through to final resolution.Monitor helpdesk tickets assigned, and respond to issues identified by the client in a timely manner.Prioritize incidents and service requests according to defined processes to meet defined SLAs.Work with other IT team members as appropriate to resolve technical problems and make improvements.Provide IT business and application support services for projects and special requests.Contribute to technician knowledgebase as needed.Help support peer training for new team members as required.Perform complex hardware troubleshooting in cooperation with the admin teams and in accordance with the datacenter policies and processes.Qualification and Requirements Minimum 1-2 years of experience in datacenter facilities administration or a related roleFamiliarity with datacenter infrastructure components and systems.Experience configuring & troubleshooting servers, networks, and storage.Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work well under pressure.Diploma in IT from recognized college or university is required.Datacenter Infrastructure Specialist (DCIS), COMPTIA A+ and ITIL certifications are an asset.Technical computer knowledge & troubleshooting skills is a must.Demonstrated professional experience in a fast paced, customer service-oriented role.Excellent verbal and written communication in EnglishCompensation and Benefits: In accordance with the BC Pay Transparency Act the range for this role for BC residents is $45,000 – $55,000 annually.Paid vacationsAdditional 5 personal daysPaid sick daysExtended Medical and Dental plan from day oneAt Microserve, we gather compensation benchmarking data across BC & Canada for our roles and use that data to build a salary range for our current team and future talent.
