About the Role:
Reporting
The Senior Legal Counsel reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and is responsible for providing expert guidance to stakeholders on all legal matters on existing files externally and internally.

Key Performance Indicators / Duties & Responsibilities
Working closely with the CFO and existing legal team to support strategic leadership on all business development and commercial matters.
Create standards and processes for drafting agreements, mitigate and address contractual risks, and work with the appropriate leaders to align business processes with contractual obligations.
Support the company's interest on all legal proceedings including litigations, arbitrations and hearings as required.
Ensure the firm's operations comply with all relevant laws and regulations and manage legal risks effectively.
Provide guidance and support to legal staff on all legal inquiries and requests.
Provide guidance in the advising of regulatory and contractual issues and review applicable statutes and regulations.
Source external legal support and manage contractual relationships as required.
Maintain and build strong relationships with clients, ensuring their legal needs are met with the highest level of professionalism.
Qualifications
A Bachelor of Law (LLB) from an accredited Canadian university and current membership with the Law Society of Alberta.
A Master of Business Administration (MBA) would be considered an asset.
Excellent business acumen and understanding of commercial agreements.
Attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.
High level of integrity, confidentiality, and accountability.
Strong work ethic and positive team attitude.
Sound analytical thinking, planning, prioritization, and execution skills.
Ability to respond appropriately in pressure situations with a calm and steady demeanor.

Must have a valid Canadian passport; occasional travel may be required.
Experience
10+ years' experience in Corporate and/or Contract Law (Leasing and Financing backgrounds are preferred).
Minimum of 3 years' experience in the Aviation sector is required.
