ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer (COO), the Director of Engineering & Operations will play a pivotal role in elevating the performance of our mining sites by driving the adoption of best practices and ensuring the alignment and standardization of technical, reporting, and budgeting processes across the business. This leader will also collaborate with the Wesdome corporate development team, offering critical mining engineering expertise to support strategic initiatives such as property acquisitions, mergers and acquisitions (M&A), and integration activities.ABOUT YOU You will be a key partner to the COO, bringing a powerful combination of technical expertise, leadership acumen, and strategic foresight. This role goes beyond just management—it’s about creating opportunities to work closely with our mine sites, building a strong culture of collaboration and respect.You can seamlessly blend your technical and managerial skills with a visionary mindset, aligning engineering operations with the company’s broader business objectives, ensuring sustainable growth and engineering operations with our company’s long-term goals. In your role, you will also be a Health & Safety champion, ensuring that safety remains at the forefront of every operation, driving sustainable growth, operational efficiency, and a strong commitment to the well-being of our teams.POSITION RESPONSIBILITIESHands-On Technical Support: Provide hands-on assistance to operations in all areas pertaining to Mining Engineering, including rock mechanics and ground control, ventilation, planning, drilling, and blasting.Process Standardization: Streamline and standardize operational reporting processes across all sites to ensure consistency and efficiency.Budgeting and Planning: Work collaboratively with mine site leadership to develop annual budgets and life of mine (LOM) plans that align with Wesdome’s strategic objectives.Reserve Updates and Oversight: Provide professional mining guidance and assistance on annual Reserve updates, acting as Qualified Person (QP) in the absence of site expertise.Knowledge Sharing: Facilitate and streamline knowledge sharing between operations to promote best practices and continuous improvement.Professional Development: Actively engage in the professional development of the Corporation’s engineering personnel through coaching and mentoring on industry best practices and standards.Contribution to Corporate Development: Contribute mining engineering insights to Corporate Development reviews and evaluations, supporting property acquisitions, mergers and acquisitions (M&A), and integration activities.QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCEMining engineering degree.Post graduate program considered an asset. Membership of a recognized professional organization (P.Eng. or equivalent). Minimum 15 years operations experience in mining engineering and management with a strong technical background, preferably in rock mechanics. English/French bilingual. Strong coaching and mentoring skills. Ability to work independently as well as in multi-disciplinary project teams. Project Management: Proficiency in overseeing large-scale engineering projects from conception through to completion, ensuring they are on time and within budget.Change Management: Ability to lead organizational changes and continuous improvement initiatives.Business Development Acumen: Experience working with corporate teams on business development initiatives, including identifying new opportunities and contributing to growth strategies.Cross-functional Collaboration: Ability to collaborate effectively with other departments, particularly with business development, to align engineering operations with broader corporate goals.Excellent communication and presentation skills; for reporting to the COO, and engaging with key stakeholders, including site managers, corporate executives, and external partners.Wesdome prides itself on being an equal-opportunity employer committed to responsible mining practices and building a diverse and inclusive workforce.
