Job Description Our client in the manufacturing industry is seeking a Director of Procurement to join their team. The Director of Procurement is responsible for ensuring the consistency, cost-effectiveness, and efficiency of our procurement and sourcing processes; this role oversees a of six. Reporting directly to the Vice President of Operations, the Director works closely with the VP to improve procurement, sourcing, and overall supply chain processes. This role requires a creative problem solver with strong leadership skills and a keen awareness of market trends. Responsibilities: Develop and implement strategies for procuring materials, supplies, and finished goods to meet fluctuating product and customer demands. Lead supply chain functions to optimize resources, maximize profitability, and achieve key performance indicators (KPIs). Evaluate current inventories and procedures, recommending improvements to enhance supply chain efficiency and profitability. Monitor supplier performance to ensure quality and delivery standards are met; identify and qualify new suppliers. Provide strategic recommendations to senior management regarding procurement, sourcing, and inventory management. Develop alternative supplier bases, including options in the US, Mexico, Asia, and internationally. Ensure accuracy in the Material/Inventory system, including inventory records, purchase orders, and shipping orders. Apply strong cost/price analysis and negotiation skills when approving new vendors. Enforce adherence to purchasing policies and manage the procurement and purchasing budget. Promote best practices in procurement and strategic sourcing. Collaborate with various departments within the organization. Identify cost-saving opportunities and support strategic sourcing initiatives. Lead and develop a high-functioning team, participating in performance management and recruitment. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications: Minimum of 10 years of experience in procurement and strategic sourcing within a manufacturing environment. Proven success in sourcing manufactured components, raw materials, and finished goods domestically and from Asia, with creative solutions to manage supply chain needs and risks. Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Engineering, or a related field. Excellent interpersonal, supervisory, and leadership skills. Strong customer service orientation. Proactive in learning new processes/systems and driving continuous improvement. Strong problem-solving and information-seeking abilities. Demonstrated ability to develop employees to achieve higher performance standards. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proficient in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and computer literacy.
