At CI, we see a great place to work as one that is a safe place for everyone to have a voice, where people are empowered to take ownership over meaningful work, where there is an opportunity to grow through stretching themselves, where they can work on innovative products and projects, and where employees are supported and engaged in doing so.  JOB OVERVIEW At CI, we see a great place to work as one that is a safe place for everyone to have a voice, where people are empowered to take ownership over meaningful work, where there is an opportunity to grow through stretching themselves, where they can work on innovative products and projects, and where employees are supported and engaged in doing so.  JOB OVERVIEWThe Director, Fund Taxation will manage all fund taxation aspects for all CI mutual funds, ETFs, closed-end funds, mutual fund corporations and segregated funds.WHAT YOU WILL DOManage monthly, quarterly and annual tax distribution and allocation cycle for mutual funds, ETFs and closed-end fundsManage mock and final distributions calculation review for year-endManage distribution rates review against transfer agency system; including year-end tax factors and tax slipsReview and filing fund tax returnsManage year-end audit and CRA auditReview quarterly distributions and valuations of quarterly fundsReview tax related fund projections, i.e. fund launches, fund mergers, fund termination, corporate actions etc.Ensure tax documents are completed (i.e. W8 BENE, CRS, W9, tax IDs)Review CI tax optimizer tool and other tax-related enhancementReview tax disclosure in prospectuses and legal documentationAssist in HST blended rate calculationManage PFIC reportingManage external providers in tax reclaim filing documentation and other information requestsDevelop and execute policies and procedures for fund taxationAssist marketing, sales, legal, client service and administration departments in tax-related inquiriesWHAT YOU WILL BRINGMinimum 7 years of financial services industry experience, especially Canadian Mutual Funds/ETFs, in various roles such as accountant, fund accounting manager and portfolio administrator. Experience in big accounting firms is an asset.Experienced with a wide variety of products such as structured products, closed-end funds, flow-through limited partnerships, ETFs, etc.Ability to implement policies and procedures to maintain compliance with various regulationsEducation level: BachelorsAccounting designation is an assetAdditional / special / professional courses: CSCTechnical skills and level: Microsoft Office, MCH and E-Horizon, Reuters, BloombergGeneral knowledge and level: Financial instruments/markets; (fund) accounting principles and practices, IFRSStrong organizational, interpersonal and communication (written and oral) skillsExcellent attention to detail and consistent high level of accuracyProven ability to work independently as well as with a team, under pressure and with time sensitive deadlinesSound professional judgment, professionalism, and integrityAble to work in a high-performance cultureOpen to and comfortable with constantly evolving and changing priorities and new challenges CI Financial is an independent company offering global wealth management and asset management advisory services through diverse financial services firms.
