Our Port Hope location is looking for a Health Physicist to provide support to the Historic Waste Program Management Office. If you answered yes, then this may be the job for you! The Health Physicist (HP) will work under the general guidance of the Historic Waste Program Management office (HWP MO) Manager, Radiation Protection and the Health Physicist (HP) Lead in providing Health Physics and Radiation Protection (RP) support to the Historic Waste Program (HWP) Management Office. As an individual contributor, executes moderately complex technical work by providing HP Subject Mater Expert (SME) on routine technical work topics providing support to CNL and/or CNL Remediation Contractors in the development, implementation, and oversight of radiation protection practices. The HP will participate in the review of plans and procedures and deliver effective oversight of field implementation of CNSC and PHAI compliant RP program elements. The HP must have excellent technical communication skills including technical writing and document preparation/review. What will you be doing! Documenting, forecasting, analyzing, investigating, and interpreting moderately complex results and providing recommendations to project teams and/or more senior staff. Prioritizing tasks and deliverables according to defined timelines Performing moderately complex radiological safety assessments; Documenting radiological work assessments according to CNL procedures; Assisting in documenting radiological work plans; Assisting in the Critical Review of subcontractor RP plans and standard operating procedures; Assisting in delivery of Group 4, Group 3 and Group 2 and Group 1 RP Training for CNL staff members and sub-contractors; Leading accident investigations and workplace inspections; Advising staff on RP requirements in their respective work areas; Assisting oversight of the CNL sub-contractor’s execution of their RP Programs; Supporting CNSC audits, oversights and other regulatory obligations and ensuring compliance with quality assurance standards; and Ensuring both Port Granby and Port Hope sites, in general, are compliant with the requirements of the PHAI RP Plan and CNL’s Corporate Radiation Protection program. Assisting in providing SME assistance to the Manager, Radiation Protection, and the HP Lead in the development and maintenance of RP program elements as well as define and maintain RP Training to CNL staff, and to oversee both internal and external dosimetry for CNL personnel and contractors utilizing CNL as their licensed dosimetry service. Other duties as assigned by your manager. What we are looking for: Education A University Degree in health physics or Honours degree in science or engineering, with post graduate studies and/or experience in health physics or related discipline. A valid Ontario class “G” (or equivalent) driver’s license. Experience Two (2) years (24 months) as an operational Health Physicist in a relevant related field is preferred however not required. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Knowledge of recommendations and guidelines for radiological protection standards Knowledge and understanding of radiation protection philosophies, procedures, equipment, and techniques used both in theory and practice. Use of Microsoft computer software, knowledge, and use of databases. Good written and oral communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively with others in a team environment, multi-task and prioritize work to meet objectives and targets, make decisions based on established requirements, procedures, and practices, and wear protective clothing and work in a hazardous environment. Mature outlook and proven good judgment. Knowledge of recommendations and guidelines of radiological protection standards, understanding of radiation protection philosophies, procedures, equipment and techniques used both in theory and practice. Security Clearance Eligibility Required Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which has a minimum requirement of 3 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States and/or the United Kingdom.
