Overview
The Data Engineering Lead is a senior professional responsible for managing and optimizing data architecture, ensuring data quality, and developing processes for effective data utilization for client team. This role combines technical expertise with leadership skills to drive best-in-class data engineering solutions. The Data Engineering Lead not only designs and implements data processes but also mentors junior team members, fostering their growth and ensuring successful project execution.
Description of Duties
Data Architecture Management:
- Oversee the architecture and design of data systems, ensuring scalability, reliability, and performance.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align data architecture with business goals.
Data Process Implementation:
- Develop and manage software processes that move data between the Data Warehouse and internal systems.
- Design and implement ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes to prepare data for various stakeholders.
Data Quality Assurance:
- Ensure data accuracy and quality by identifying inconsistencies and resolving data issues.
- Implement data governance practices to maintain high-quality data.
Subject Matter Expertise:
- Serve as a technical authority in data engineering, staying updated on industry trends and best practices.
- Provide guidance on data engineering tools, technologies, and methodologies.
Mentorship and Leadership:
- Lead and mentor small teams of junior Data Engineers, fostering their professional development.
- Facilitate knowledge sharing and collaboration within the team.
Business Insights:
- Analyze data to derive meaningful insights, supporting data-driven decision-making.
- Communicate findings to stakeholders and recommend actionable steps.
Education / Skills / Experience:
- Education: A Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field.
- Skills:
- Proficiency in SQL, Python, or other relevant programming languages.
- Strong understanding of data warehousing concepts and cloud-based solutions (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to travel to other offices or client locations as needed.

- Experience:
- 5+ years of experience
- Significant experience in data engineering, including ETL processes, data modeling, and database management.
- Proven leadership experience, preferably leading small teams.
