Position Summary:
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Program Director to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a genuine love for children and a commitment to their development and well-being.
As a Program Director, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations and management of the facility or program. Your role involves ensuring the safety, well-being, and developmental progress of the children under your care, as well as managing staff, budgets, and regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities:
Leadership and Management:
Provide visionary leadership to the childcare program, setting goals and objectives in alignment with the organization's mission.
Oversee and supervise all aspects of daily operations, including staffing, scheduling, and program activities.
Recruit, hire, train, and evaluate childcare staff, ensuring compliance with all licensing and regulatory requirements.
Foster a positive and supportive work environment that encourages professional growth and development among staff members.
Program Development and Implementation:
Design and implement developmentally appropriate curriculum and activities that promote the intellectual, physical, social, and emotional growth of children based on the Alberta Flight Framework.
Ensure that the childcare program meets or exceeds all applicable licensing, accreditation, and quality standards.
Regularly assess and evaluate program effectiveness, making adjustments as necessary to meet the needs of children and families.
Parent and Community Engagement:
Build and maintain positive relationships with parents/guardians, keeping them informed about their child’s progress, activities, and any issues that may arise.
Act as a liaison between the childcare program and the community, participating in outreach activities and promoting the program's services.
Financial Management:
Develop and manage the childcare program budget, ensuring fiscal responsibility and efficiency.
Health, Safety, and Compliance:
Maintain a safe and healthy environment for children, staff, and visitors, adhering to all health and safety regulations and protocols.
Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations governing childcare facilities, including licensing requirements and reporting.
Qualifications:
Degree or diploma in Early Childhood Education (ECE), Child Development or a related field.
Must have a valid Alberta ECE Certification Level 3.
Proven experience in a leadership role within a childcare setting, with a strong understanding of child development principles and best practices.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with children, parents, staff and community members.
Strong organizational and management skills.
Ability to handle crisis situations calmly and efficiently, ensuring the safety and well-being of all involved.
Additional Requirements:
CPE and First Aid Certification.
Police Clearance Check with vulnerable sector search is required.
Salary and Benefits:
Competitive wages based on experience (plus Government Top-up).
