A career with CSL is both stimulating and challenging, and we are continually seeking skilled and passionate individuals to occupy key roles throughout our company.For more information on CSL Group, please visit our website: https://www.cslships.com/en.Duties and responsibilities· Legal counsel, advisor and support to the Commercial and Operational pillars of the Company.· Responsible for supporting the Assistant General Counsel in customer contracts and commercial legal matters for the Company, including:o Drafting and negotiating contracts with customers, including contracts of affreightment, time charters and voyage charters;o Providing opinions and guidance on customer contracts and related legal matters;o Structuring and implementing complex commercial transactions;o Providing general advice on matters of a commercial legal nature, including analysing applicable laws and regulations;o Assessing legal risk in commercial transactions and developing and implementing effective mitigation strategies; ando Supervising external counsel in commercial matters.· Responsible for supporting the Assistant General Counsel in operational legal matters and fleet management for the Company, including:o Drafting and negotiating contracts with suppliers, including ship repair and drydock agreements;o Drafting and negotiating contracts for purchase and sale of ships;o Drafting contracts for inter-company chartering of ships;o Providing legal support for flag and ship registration matters;o Providing opinions and guidance on operational contracts and related legal matters;o Providing general advice on matters of an operational legal nature, including analysing applicable laws and regulations;o Assessing legal risk in operational transactions and developing and implementing effective mitigation strategies; ando Supervising external counsel in operational matters.· Responsible for supporting the Assistant General Counsel in legal matters relating to financings, including:o Providing legal assistance in relation to financings and borrowing transactions;o Assessing legal risk in finance transactions and developing and implementing effective mitigation strategies; ando Supervising external counsel in financing matters.· Availability during non-business hours.Qualification and skills· 2-5 years of legal experience in commercial and corporate law with a major law firm or corporation.· Law degree from a recognised law faculty at a Canadian university.· Member of the Barreau du Quebec or equivalent certification.· Availability during non-business hours.· Ability to effectively prioritize files and manage time.· Strong drafting and negotiating skills.· Excellent team player and collaborator.· Capable of working autonomously and with global team.· Effective risk manager and confident in making sound legal business decisions.· Knowledge and experience in commercial and service contracts and corporate finance an asset.· Knowledge of maritime law, chartering or maritime operations an asset.· Strong legal capabilities, problem-solving and project-management skills and attention to detail.· Good interpersonal and communication skills in English and French (written and oral).· Highly ethical and accountable.This is a full time, salaried position.
