Patriot Forge Co. supplies carbon, alloy and stainless steel forgings with heat treatment, machining and testing. Through continual upgrades, Patriot Forge has been able to enhance our manufacturing capabilities to better serve the needs of our ever-evolving customer base. Patriot Forge is currently recruiting a Director of Manufacturing to join our team! The Director of Manufacturing is responsible for the management and performance of Patriot’s manufacturing facilities in Ontario. The incumbent will provide leadership and direction to the Plant Managers and Supervisors in the various departments as well as collaborate with the senior management team to develop and implement strategic and tactical plans to meet the company’s growth and profitability objectives. Responsibilities: Leads manufacturing teams to develop annual operating plans and key performance indicators that support growth and profit improvement initiatives, conforming to established customer and company quality standards. Directs the company’s Ontario manufacturing activities to ensure maximum effectiveness for the production of quality products within specified time and budgetary guidelines. Identifies, recommends and implements changes for continuous improvement, increasing productivity, reducing cost of scrap, housekeeping, cost reductions and worker engagement. Ensures products meet or exceed customer quality standards and committed to delivery dates. Interacts with the sales and marketing team in reviewing sales forecasts and strategies to ensure integration with production. Develops short and long term strategies to improve performance, manage manufacturing operations and optimize capacity and efficiency. Coordinates the activities of the plants ensuring compliance with environmental regulations. Develops and mentors plant leadership and conducts annual performance reviews to provide constructive feedback as well as setting short and long term goals in-line with the strategic vision of the company. Reviews and analyses operating reports and metrics, ensuring corrective actions and resources are focused on areas for improvement. Ensures that appropriate policies and procedures are in place for all manufacturing operations and facilities and ensures adherence to same. Provides feedback to other departments when operations information is conflicting or ambiguous. Ensures optimum staffing levels are maintained, while minimizing overhead, to meet production demands. Interacts with Human Resources and other functional departments to promote a team environment. Participates in and assists other department managers in the development and formulation of short and long term planning, policies and objectives for the company. Participates in the hiring of Plant Managers and Supervisors, evaluating capabilities of candidates ensuring they are capable of performing tasks they are hired to perform. Assists in coordination of major projects impacting production such as plant layout changes; installation of capital equipment and major repairs, ensuring they are completed. Ensures the facilities are in compliance with and supports all legislative Health & Safety laws and regulations. Ensures the successful launch of all new products in the facilities. Experience/Skills/Education: Engineering Degree required 10+ years’ experience in managing multi-location manufacturing facilities in North America, preferably in a finished machining and custom job shop environment Experience in both a Union and Non-Union manufacturing environment Proven performance as a high-energy team player with the ability to lead teams Forge industry experience preferred but steel industry experience is an asset Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to manage human resources effectively Ability to use team-building principles to constantly improve output and profitability Excellent organizational skills and capable of managing multiple tasks effectively Excellent command of the English language, both verbal and written Excellent computer skills e.g. MS Office Should you possess the above credentials and are looking for an opportunity, we invite you to submit your resume to Patriot Forge Co. via the Indeed submission application.
