The Opportunity

Tidewater has an immediate opening for a Process Control Engineer reporting to the Process Engineering Manager. This is a full-time position based in Prince George, BC. The Process Control Engineer provides engineering expertise and support for industrial control systems hardware, software, programming, and field instrumentation, including governance and sustainment. This role is expected to use a ‘hands-on’ site-based approach coupled with active engagement and collaboration to support operational, maintenance, and project needs. This position will support Tidewater’s Hydrogen Derived Renewable Diesel (HDRD) facility and Prince George Refinery.

Key Responsibilities

• Sustain facility DeltaV distributed control system (DCS) architecture, hardware. and software.
• Monitor and ensure DCS health, performance, and system security, including making and implementing recommendations to address identified issues.
• Design and implement DCS hardware, software, and program engineering changes.
• Troubleshoot and optimize DCS functionality to support daily facility operation, including performing loop tuning.
• Oversee the integrity and use of facility safety instrumented systems (SIS).
• Monitor and manage DCS, SIS and controls bypasses implemented for short term operations or maintenance.
• Steward and support facility DataParc/Parcview data historians.
• With process engineers, develop equipment and system advanced process control optimizations to maximize facility profit and safe operating windows.
• Project manage and/or provide engineering support for control system related maintenance capital project scopes.
• Maintain and continuously improve DCS alarm management using Emerson AgileOps software.
• Maintain DCS hardware and software support agreements and vendor relationship.
• Support implementation and sustainment of refinery operating and training simulators.
• Be available for online response to emergency issues outside normal working hours, in coordination with peer process control engineer.

Ideal Candidate

Qualifications:

• Engineering degree from an accredited university in Chemical Engineering Process Controls discipline. or Electrical Engineering with process control knowledge and experience.
• DCS hardware, software, and program design or troubleshooting experience. DeltaV experience is preferred.
• Working knowledge of applicable industry codes and standards.
• Eligible for immediate registration with EGBC or APEGA as a Professional Engineer
• 5 years of related engineering experience in an industrial setting.
• Experience designing and implementing control system changes following operational management of change (MOC) processes is preferred.
• Computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office software (Excel, Word, Powerpoint, Outlook), database applications, and process modeling software.
• Previous gas processing, oil refining, petrochemical, or similar large industrial facility operational experience is preferred.
• Demonstrable project management and project execution experience is preferred.
• Valid driver’s license

Compensation:
We offer a competitive compensation package including an attractive base salary, short term and long-term incentive plans.

Salary Range: $105,000 - $130,000
