Corwest Fabrications Ltd is a dynamic, market-leading Canadian company, experienced internationally and recognized as a leader in the fabrication and manufacture of Piping, Tanks and Pressure Vessels using stainless steel and specialty metal alloys, including titanium and nickel alloys to end use markets such as pulp & paper, energy, oil & gas, chemical and general industrial markets is currently seeking a General Manager.
• Manage the operations and functions in the shop/yard including welding facilities, machine tool processes, and continuous manufacturing production lines
• Manage multiple subcontractors supporting the operations and maintenance functions
• Develop budgets and manage expenditures
• Manage all aspects of the contract with the client
• Develop, monitor and administers KPIs
• Show strong technical background and understanding of Critical nature of the client’s work environment including the particulars of facilities associated with piping and structural steel fabrication and module assembly
• Maintain daily communication with the client, ensuring “no surprises.” Relationship with client must be maintained at the highest level at all times
• Demonstrate a sense of urgency about customer response and addressing issues
• Facilitate meetings with a variety of attendees
• Ensure resolution with conflicts in the workplace
• Promote continuous improvement, sets goals and objectives and meets the schedule
• Keep track of compliance issues
• Support Business Development and Business Unit management in contract negotiations with customers
• Provide leadership to the operation insuring an accident-free workplace
• Ensure the safety of all employees and tenants of the facility
• Ensure that the Plans are aggressively monitored, and requirements are enforced
• Work closely with the corporate HSE manager to ensure all employees are conducting safe operations
• Works with HR on performance issues, trains and ensures all work activities are completed in a manner that exceeds the client’s expectations
• Assess and develop training programs for enhancing employee skillsets
• Creates/maintains a succession plan
• Assume additional duties as directed by the company
Skills / Knowledge / Abilities

• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multi-task
• Experience with developing and presenting key performance indicators
Qualifications and Experience
• 10 years of Fabrication shop management experience, including 5 years with supervisory responsibilities in module assembly
• Knowledge of piping and structural steel fabrication and module assembly, with the ability to prioritize, assign, track and trend project history
• Experience with fabrication of ASME pressure vessels and shell and tube heat exchangers
• Contracts including negotiations, contractors, suppliers and other service providers
• Workfront planning and scheduling
• Reliability maintenance
• Effectiveness of overall site performance and results
• Cost saving alternatives for client/customer and company
• Technical writing with an understanding of the value of procedures
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Piping/Structural Fabrication Management in a plant, or a related
discipline is an asset; or demonstrated equivalent combination of education, training and industry experience
This position will require a valid Driver’s License with a clean driver’s abstract.
