Professor, Pre-Health Status: Full Time Hours: Teaching is normally scheduled between 8:00am and 10:00pm, Monday to Friday. In accordance with the Collective Agreement, workload may be up to 44 hours per week. Home Campus: Fennell Rate of Pay: $73,079 - $126,689 per year Start Rate: Upon hire, Human Resources will conduct a rate calculation based on completed education and work experience to determine the step within the range as per the Collective Agreement. Posting Date: September 25th, 2024 Closing Date: October 1st at 7:00pm EST Consideration will be given to qualified internal full-time academic and partial load employees first, in accordance with the Collective Agreement requirements. The Department of Allied Health requires a Professor for the Pre-Health Program, specifically course offerings related to Biology. Under the direction of the Associate Dean, the incumbent will be able to develop and teach a wide range of courses that allow pathway opportunities across the School of Health. What you’ll be doing: Teaching Biology courses offered in Pre-Health including Biology for Pre-Health 1, Biology for Pre-Health 2, Preparatory Biology or Advanced Human Biology. May also be required to teach related courses, such as Anatomy & Physiology that are taught across multiple program areas in Allied Health, including Massage Therapy, Recreation Therapy and Occupational Therapist Assistant/Physiotherapist Assistant. Evaluating student progress and performing academic advising. Developing curriculum to align with the current competencies. Enhancing educational delivery through use of technology. Participating in Program quality assurance activities and Accreditation responsibilities. Participating in Program, divisional and College-wide recruitment and marketing activities. Participating in Program growth initiatives through the College and community. What you’ll bring to the role: Undergraduate degree in Life Science, Biology or related discipline is required. Current and relevant teaching experience in Post-Secondary Education is an asset. Current/relevant teaching in an online environment in Post-Secondary Education is an asset. Experience in curriculum development is an asset. Excellent clinical skills with the ability to multi-task and be an effective team player. Demonstrated commitment and understanding of human rights, equity, diversity and inclusion in the workplace. This would include experience communicating and working effectively with diverse clients and colleagues. They may be assigned to teach classes at any College campus and may be scheduled to teach between 8:00am and 10:00pm, Monday to Friday. Teaching on weekends is also possible. The successful candidate must have an ability to relate theoretical knowledge and practical applications through innovative delivery methods to provide a meaningful learning environment for students of diverse backgrounds and ages. The ability to work as part of a team and demonstration of excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential.
