Job Title: Centre Supervisor (12-month contract) (Internal and External Posting)

REPORTS TO: Chief Executive Officer

Summary:

As a Daycare Supervisor, you will play a crucial role in creating a safe and nurturing

environment for children to learn and grow. Your leadership and passion for working with

children will inspire and impact the lives of young ones each day. This exciting position is a

12-month temporary position for a management staff member on leave.

We provide high-quality, holistic, child-focused, learn-through-play programs and services supporting children's social, physical, emotional, and cognitive development (aged sixteen months to 6 years old). We achieve this through the guidance of highly trained, experienced, and committed professionals who always encourage inquiry and expressiveness through play and ensure the children's safety and security. We can do this daily thanks to highly trained staff, low teacher/child ratios, a well-designed emergent curriculum, and contracted therapy services (as needed). We also encourage imaginative play in our resource-rich environment to promote independence and confidence in the children.

Salary: $28.00 per hour up to 40 hours per week

? Monday to Friday

Ability to commute/relocate:

? Orleans, K1C 1L4: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

Work Location: In person at the childcare centre location

Expected start date: End of August 2024

Responsibilities:

Support the Founder/CEO with the design of the programs, implementation plans, and

performance reporting cycle. Oversee the daycare programs' daily operations, including

managing staff schedules, coordinating activities, and ensuring compliance with licensing

requirements and program policies.

1. Managing and supervising daycare staff, including hiring, training, and evaluating employees.

2. Creating and implementing age-appropriate educational and recreational programs for children.

3. Ensuring the safety and well-being of all children in the daycare facility.

Coordinate all tasks and activities related to routine Ministry inspections and site visits.

4. Overseeing the day-to-day operations of the daycare, including maintaining a clean and organized environment.

5. Communicating regularly with parents regarding their child's progress and any concerns.

6. Handling administrative tasks such as budgeting, record-keeping, and maintaining licensing requirements.

7. Resolve any issues or conflicts among staff or children.

8. Staying up-to-date with childcare regulations and best practices to ensure compliance and quality care.

Participate in professional development opportunities to stay updated with best practices in early childhood education and childcare.

Requirements:

? A registered member in good standing with the Ontario College of Early Childhood

Educators is an asset.

? An Early Childhood Education Diploma or degree is preferred from a recognized

community college or university, or as a secondary diploma, one of the following

Diplomas in Child and Youth Worker, Recreation and Leisure Services worker, or

Developmental Services Worker.

? First Aid and CPR C with AED certification ( valid for at least a year remaining before

expiry)

? Food Handler certificate an asset

? Must pass a criminal background check with the vulnerable sector

? Proof of double COVID-19 vaccination is optional

Candidate Profile:

? Bilingualism (English and French) is an important asset for this position. Fluency in any

other language, in addition to English, is a bonus.

? 2 to 5 years experience in a Licensed Child Care Program with the appropriate age

groups, experience in a leadership role

? Experience working with emergent curriculum, How Does Learning Happen? (HDLH)

and Early Learning for Every Child Today (ELECT).;

? Excellent knowledge of the CCEYA;

? Knowledge of licensing requirements, Ministry inspection preparation and procedures,

program policies, early childhood education, and childcare best practices.

? Ability to analyze and synthesize information, and excellent time-management skills with

the ability to multi-task.

? Strong leadership, communication (written and oral), and organizational skills.

? Ability to multitask and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.

? Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with children, parents, and

staff.

? Ability to maintain professional conduct and discretion at all times
