The Opportunity:Our client, a leading manufacturing facility in the Industry & Water segment is seeking a Health, Safety & Compliance Specialist to join their team. This role will be instrumental in ensuring regulatory compliance, safety, and quality standards across operations at their South Shore (QC) Plant. The facility plays a crucial role in water treatment and oil and gas applications across North America.What You’ll Be Doing:Overseeing regulatory compliance related to Environmental, Health, Safety, and Quality (EHSQ) within a chemical manufacturing environment.Assisting with the EHSQ, Risk Management Plan (RMP), and Process Safety Management (PSM) audit processes.Analyzing safety reports, identifying non-compliance issues, and implementing corrective actions focused on continuous improvement.Managing compliance with the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and maintaining the Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (C-TPAT) program for Canadian sites.Administering the Integrated Management Process and acting as a technical advisor for the Emergency Response Assistance Plan (ERAP).Leading the Internal Tier 1 Emergency Response Team and facilitating training on safety and compliance procedures.Supporting emergency response efforts within the Varennes Industrial area.Collaborating on the implementation of health and safety strategies to align with organizational culture.Optimizing key safety procedures, including Lockout/Tagout, Confined Space Entry, and Hot Work Permits.Ensuring adherence to corporate health and safety policies and internal audit standards.Coordinating health and safety training programs for all employees.What You’ll Need To Be Successful:A university degree or a minimum of 5 years of experience in Occupational Health & Safety.At least 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, with a preference for chemical industry experience.Strong knowledge of Industrial Hygiene, Ergonomics, and Canadian Occupational Health & Safety regulations.Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, make sound decisions, and prioritize tasks during emergencies.A proactive approach to learning advanced safety features and adopting best safety practices.Bilingual proficiency in French and English.
