Job Summary The Facilities Planning Assistant supports the efficient functioning of facilities by managing capital projects and coordinating maintenance, repairs, inventory control, while ensuring safety procedures are followed. This role handles day-to-day facility operations, support various departments, maintain records, conduct inspections, and ensure compliance with regulations to create a safe and productive work environment. There is a need for technical knowledge of building systems, an organized approach, and excellent people skills to interact effectively with different organizational stakeholders.ResponsibilitiesAssist with the planning and implementation of a variety of projects such as building repairs, planning and constructing new facilities and production equipmentReporting on-site inspection of projects, providing quality and status reportingObtaining pricing for facility improvement items and equipment, writing material and service requisitions, requesting approval and receiving the invoices for accounts payableAssist with creating and maintaining electronic libraries of facilities and production equipment informationAssist with drawing/drafting of small projects Continuously identify opportunities for improvement across all operations and ensure functional implementationEnsure compliance with regulatory requirements Additional duties as assignedTechnical RequirementsSuccessful completion of an engineering technology program, a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, or a related engineering disciplineProficiency in programs such as Microsoft Office, Google SketchUp and/or AutoCAD, with exposure to other engineering related softwarePrevious experience or past co-op placement within the field of engineering would be considered an assetStrong knowledge and understanding of construction drawingsBusiness RequirementsStrong critical thinking and problem-solving skillsExceptional time management, documentation, and organizational skillsDesire to work well in a fast-paced, deadline-driven, and customer-focused environmentCultural RequirementsExcellent communication and interpersonal skills with individuals of diverse disciplines including various levels of managementA team player with the desire to work collaboratively with others to improve existing processesAs a member of the OSCO Construction Group, we offer a comprehensive compensation package including health and dental coverage, life insurance, RRSP and tax-free savings account options.
