Duties:
This position supports the day-to-day operations for placement programs for youth who cannot (at this point in their life) live at home. Many youth have experienced significant trauma, grief, abuse and have lived in several placements. Respecting and honouring a youth’s journey is crucial in decision making. The Group Care Placement Resources Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the licensing/placement team and group home operators to plan collectively. The incumbent is responsible for creative, collaborative problem solving that serves the best interest of children. Key responsibilities include understanding referrals, the needs of children, the challenges in providing services, supporting caregivers and organizations, funding and licensing requirements. Every day presents multifaceted issues making this role and work impactful. The importance of truth and reconciliation and leading in this way is paramount when working within a system that needs to be decolonized.
Qualifications:
Essential:
#J-18808-Ljbffr- Post-Secondary degree in Social Sciences and/or relevant experience working with child and family service agencies, organizations and support networks that care for complex needs for youth and families. A combination of knowledge, training/education and experience may be considered.
- Leadership experience, including supervising staff in a team environment.
- Experience building relationships with Indigenous peoples and implementing the principles of reconciliation.
- Ability to apply and interpret legislation and policies, including knowledge and experience applying standards.
- Knowledge of child and family services and programs relevant to a youth’s placement.
- Excellent problem solving abilities and decision-making skills.
- Strong political acumen demonstrated including the ability to manage complex, emotionally charged, confidential materials/situations in an appropriate manner.
- Excellent verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate and engage with various people, organizations, and partners.
- Strong written communication skills to prepare various documents for senior decision-makers and various audiences.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to develop and maintain mutually positive working relationships with youth, internal and external collaterals and various partners that support youth.
- Experience and/or knowledge of licensing compliance orders and processes that improve the quality of care for youth in placements.
- Strong organizational and time management skills including the ability to respond to changing priorities and meet deadlines.
- Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Work, Excel, PowerPoint) and other computer applications.
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
- Must provide and maintain a satisfactory Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search NOTE: Candidates with a criminal record will be reviewed based on the requirements of the position.
- Must have a valid Class 5 Drivers licence with access to a vehicle.
- Must provide and maintain a satisfactory Adult Abuse and Child Abuse Registry Check, and Prior Contact Check NOTE: Candidates with previous involvement in the child welfare system will be reviewed based on the requirements of the position.
- Must be able to travel within Manitoba as required.
