Division Chief - Division of Cardiology, Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario

Canada

CHEO is recruiting a Division Chief and full-time pediatric cardiologist to actively lead clinical care, teaching and research in the Division of Cardiology within the Department of Pediatrics. The Division of Cardiology is comprised of 7 clinicians who are dynamic, highly engaged, and dedicated to excellence in patient care, academic activity and research.

The Division provides cardiology subspecialty care to children and youth ranging in age from fetal life to age 18 years. Outpatient and inpatient general cardiology care is provided, with additional specialized services including non-invasive electrophysiology, fetal cardiology, inherited arrhythmia, cardiomyopathy, and neuromuscular disease. A full complement of cardiac imaging modalities is utilized, including echocardiography (transthoracic and transesophageal), cardiac MRI, cardiac CT and cardiac catheterization (diagnostic and interventional). Cardiovascular surgery is performed on site, with collaboration with The Hospital for Sick Children, Toronto, under a 1 program – 2 sites model.

The Division Chief at CHEO oversees the safety and quality of care provided as well as the medical staff within the Division. As such, the Division Chief has responsibilities for medical staff leadership, operational resource oversite, in collaboration with their administrative dyad, and the Division’s academic activity. Additionally, the Division chief is a member of the Cardiovascular Leadership Team. The Division Chief also maintains a clinical and academic role within the division.

CHEO invites applications from candidates who have strong operational and academic leadership skills and a proven record of achievement in comprehensive patient care, clinical program development, education, research, and/or quality assurance. Candidates must be eligible for a full-time academic appointment in the Faculty of Medicine, University of Ottawa. While English is the language of the health record, functionality in French is an asset.

Candidates for this position must have an MD, certification by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in pediatric cardiology or equivalent and be eligible for licensing in the Province of Ontario.

CHEO is one of the few stand-alone, global leaders in pediatric health and is home to nearly 4,500 staff and physicians dedicated to helping children and youth live their best lives. Within its own walls and through partnerships with community providers, CHEO has transformed from a 20th Century acute care hospital into a 21st Century integrated child and youth health system. Ranked in the top 1% of Canadian hospitals for the digitization of its clinical infrastructure, CHEO combines excellence in clinical care, research, and education to advance seamless care that’s provided where, when, and how it is needed. CHEO’s Research Institute is dedicated to world-class clinical, translational, and basic science research covering a wide range of children’s health concerns. CHEO has twice been named as the best place to work in Canadian healthcare by Forbes Magazine and is ranked second among Canadian hospitals on its list of Canada’s Best Employers for 2021. For the 10th consecutive year in a row, the editors of Canada's Top 100 Employers has recognized CHEO as a top employer in the National Capital Region. Every year CHEO helps more than 500,000 children and youth from Eastern Ontario, Western Quebec, Nunavut and Northern Ontario.
