SuccessFactors: Career Opportunities (sapsf.com) General Purpose The Front Desk Clerk for the University of Guelph, Ridgetown Campus Front Desk will work to foster a positive student experience that is conducive to successful academic study and positive social experiences. This role requires excellent customer service and communication skills, good judgement, and a sincere desire to help others. The role will act as an ambassador of the University and support initiatives by the University and the department; provide residents, as well as staff and visitors, access to a multitude of services including but not limited to keys, printing, mail, wayfinding; and connects them to other services/resources within Ridgetown Student Housing Services and the University of Guelph Ridgetown Campus. The role acts as campus safety dispatch and is responsible for controlling building access to Steckley Hall. The role will foster a positive and welcoming experience at the desks, maintain a strong rapport with other student-staff including RAs, Residence Student Council and Residence Ambassadors at all times and uphold residence and University policies. Duties and Responsibilities Providing excellent, professional and consistent customer service to all students, staff and visitors; developing positive connections with residents for the purpose of demonstrating approachability, resourcefulness, and inclusion in the supportive role of an FDA; handling each customer interaction with professionalism and tact; responding to all routine telephone calls, emails, and general inquiries in a friendly, helpful and professional manner at all times; providing accurate information about Campus Housing, including services, policies, processes, procedures, etc. to all students, staff and visitors; processing financial transactions through StarRez system during desk shifts including printing, envelopes, stamps and other items as required; maintaining a high level of confidentiality with respect to residents, student-staff schedules, and work-related matters. The role will act as the first point of contact for students, faculty, staff, and visitors. You can promote various events, programs, or initiatives happening on campus by providing information and materials, such as brochures, flyers, or newsletters. Responsible for assisting with coordinating and conducting campus tours for prospective students, their families, or other visitors. During these tours, you have the opportunity to showcase the university's facilities, highlight its unique features, and promote the campus culture. Requirements Two (2) year Community College preferred with 1 year working experience. A Certificate, Diploma, or other certification/qualification in adult education, program management, or project management would be considered an asset. First Aid, CPR and AED Certification Customer service, organization and time management, attention to detail and conflict resolution. Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, Power Point Skill in operation of communication tools, equipment, computers and relevant software.
