Job Description

The Corporate Accountant will be part of Brookfield Property Partners Corporate team and will report into the Director, Finance. Located in our head office in Downtown Toronto, the Corporate Accountant role provides a solid foundation and exposure to a progressive and dynamic career with a leading global asset management firm. The Corporate Accountant will be responsible for maintaining the accounting records within Brookfield's corporate operations, and work with various internal stakeholders and teams to identify and implement key improvement opportunities.

Responsibilities:
The responsibilities for this position would include, among other things:

  • Assist with executing the monthly and quarterly financial close process of various subsidiaries and entities, and identify opportunities to implement practical changes to drive improvements and efficiencies, including;
    • Preparing and execution of routine accounting steps and transactions;
    • Preparing and recording of daily, monthly and/or quarterly journal entries;
    • Preparing monthly bank reconciliations and loans and interest calculations;
    • Updating debt databases for transactional activity and review of loan agreements.
  • Assist with maintaining third-party debt activity and collaborating regularly with external banks on loan interest;
  • Assist with capital planning and forecasting liquidity requirements;
  • Assist with planning of operational cash movements to various legal entities;
  • Collaborate regularly with operating business groups and with various Brookfield departments to reconcile intercompany transactions;
  • Continuously look for efficiency in our processes, tools and reports and make suggestions to implement these into our framework;
  • Assist in special projects as assigned.
Qualifications and Requirements:
  • Minimum 2 years of progressive work experience in an accounting function
  • Strong financial systems experience, including advanced Excel skills
  • Interpersonal and organizational skills, and the willingness to always support the team
  • Able to work in a dynamic, complex and fast-paced environment, as well as adapt quickly to manage changing priorities and deadlines
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Self-motivated and pro-active, with respect to both managing workload and professional development
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics would be an asset
