The Senior Major Gifts Officer will work from 5151 Terminal Road (with occasional time spent in our program spaces, including Ronald McDonald House on Tower Road), until Fall 2024, at which time the team will be working from the new House which is currently under construction on South Street, directly across from the IWK Health Centre. Our new House will enable us to expand our impact by providing a home for an additional 600 children and their families.

The salary range for this role is $60,000 - $81,000 commensurate with experience. This includes a comprehensive benefits package.
Senior Major Gifts Officer
The Opportunity
RMHC Atlantic has BIG BOLD plans for the future. We are seeking a dynamic and passionate Senior Major Gifts Officer to lead our revenue development efforts that ultimately support our mission of keeping families together when they need to travel for their child’s medical treatment.
The new Senior Major Gifts Officer will develop and execute strategies for major and planned giving initiatives within the organization, including planning, implementation, and evaluation, and will work to inspire and ignite six-figure giving.
The Senior Major Gifts Officer will also work across departments and with senior volunteers as we continue to strive for optimal growth and enhanced family care through philanthropy.
The successful candidate for the position will be passionate about our programs, initiatives, and our families, and will become a knowledgeable champion for the organization and the communities we serve.

Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) Atlantic helps families with sick children stay together and near the medical care they need. Our programs include Ronald McDonald House in Halifax, a “home-away-from-home” for out-of-town families with sick children, and Ronald McDonald Family Rooms in Halifax and Moncton, an oasis of calm and support inside the hospital. Each year we help more than 2,000 families from across the Maritimes through our House and Family Room programs.

- Develop and execute strategies to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward major donors, focusing on gifts of $25,000 or more.
- Manage a portfolio of major donor prospects, nurturing relationships and soliciting gifts through personalized cultivation plans.
- Develop and implement strategies to cultivate and solicit planned gifts from donors interested in making legacy commitments to RMHC Atlantic.
- Identify and steward prospective planned giving donors, providing personalized support and guidance throughout the gift planning process.
- Maintain accurate records of planned giving commitments and provide regular updates to the CEO on planned giving activity and revenue projections.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with existing major donors, ensuring their continued engagement and support.
- Develop personalized stewardship plans to recognize donors' contributions and keep them informed about the impact of their gifts.
- Conduct prospect research to identify potential major gift donors, utilizing donor databases, wealth screening tools, and other resources.
- Manage and track donor interactions and moves through a comprehensive moves management system.
- Work collaboratively with the CEO, Development Team, and Board of Directors to align major gift fundraising efforts with organizational priorities and goals.
- Coordinate with other fundraising initiatives, including annual giving, and special events, to maximize donor engagement and revenue generation.
- Provide regular reports on major gift fundraising activities, including progress toward fundraising goals, donor engagement metrics, and revenue projections.
- Conduct ongoing analysis to evaluate the effectiveness of major gift fundraising strategies and make data-driven recommendations for improvement.

- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
- Proficiency in donor management software (DonorPerfect) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Commitment to the mission and values of RMHC Atlantic and the families we serve.
- Valid Drivers License is required for this role.
- A current Criminal Record Check, vulnerable sector check, and Child Abuse Registry check are conditions of employment.
- Capital campaign experience is an asset.
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as Non-profit Management, Fundraising, or Business Administration is an asset.
