About the Position:

Hey there! We’re looking for a customer-focused and proactive IT Support Specialist to join our team at Wise Publishing. Reporting to the VP of Engineering, the role of IT Support Specialist is critical to our daily operations. You will be responsible for establishing and managing the IT support department to accommodate the company's growth and ensure smooth operations of IT platforms and collaborative tools. We currently have 70 employees primarily focused in the GTA with some remote employees in Canada and the US. This role would be responsible for hybrid and on-site support for our team.

This role will be primarily on-site (3 days a week) with the flexibility to work from home 1-2 days per week.

Key Duties and Responsibilities (What you’ll do):

  • System Installation and Configuration:
  • Install, configure, and update computer systems, hardware (Mac & Windows), mobile phones, virus protection, and applications.
  • User Assistance:
  • Serve as the initial point of contact for user inquiries and troubleshoot and resolve computer and system-related challenges for employees.
  • Ensure successful onboarding and offboarding of employees.
  • Network Maintenance:
  • Monitor and maintain all aspects of computer networks.
  • Coordinate with our UK-based HQ team to collaborate and share resources, when needed
  • Resolve technical issues related to network interruptions or intrusions.
  • Helpdesk Management:
  • Maintain the helpdesk system for internal users we use Jira and Slack.
  • Documentation and Connectivity Management:
  • Organize and file documentation related to warranties and instructional guides for computer hardware.
  • Manage fibre optic broadband connectivity.
  • Security Training and Management:
  • Provide training to employees on security and phishing best practices.
  • Manage internal and external application access and licensing.
  • Assisting in implementing a single sign-on solution for third-party applications, we use Okta.
  • Audiovisual Support:
  • Provision and support audiovisual equipment for podcasting and remote conferences.

Key Requirements (Who you are):

  • High school diploma required; Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field preferred.
  • 1-3 years of relevant experience in a customer-focused technical position.
  • Strong knowledge of Google Workspace, Slack, and Okta, preferred
  • Proficiency in working with Windows and Mac OS.
  • Familiarity with ticketing software like FreshDesk or Jira and remote access desktop programs.
  • Experience with Mobile Device Management software like Kandji.
  • Strong networking and security skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills- able to walk through troubleshooting either virtually or in person.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with stakeholders and work collaboratively in a team.
  • Positive, enthusiastic, and supportive team member.
  • Experience working in dynamic office environments with IT, Marketing, Editorial, and Sales teams is preferred.
