Business Development Leader – Captives & Alternative Risk Solutions
What can you expect?
Lead business development efforts to support the growth of our captive business and other alternative solutions.
Be a part of Marsh’s strategic risk team which offers various risk assessment and risk quantification capabilities, and leverage its consultants to support in developing captive feasibility studies and provide strategic direction to clients in Canada
Offer expertise to our extensive client base throughout Canada and offshore domiciles collaborating with the global captive practice

We will count on you to:
Drive growth of captives for Canadian parent companies
Generate opportunities for captive feasibility, expansion and strategic reviews
Apply engagement economics; monitor certain financial aspects of engagements and set engagement billing/pricing in consultation with consulting leadership to drive projects.
Draft response to RFPs for Captive Services
Develop and manage relationships with key onshore and offshore regulators
Provide clients and prospects with captive education and overall strategic direction
Act as lead for key strategic accounts ensuring client needs are met and board meeting materials are developed in a timely manner
Manage key relationships with fronting insurers
Work with the global captive team to ensure alignment with broader education and strategy initiatives
Assist in the implementation of new captives
Provide client insight into all alternative solutions such as alternative risk transfer products
What you need to have:
Undergraduate degree in business, finance, accounting or related fields
10+ years of experience in captives, alternative risk, insurance and / or analytics
Strong selling and execution skills with a successful track record of new business growth.
A strong ability and experience of analyzing client needs in order to design and propose consulting projects, including facilitation of workshops / strategy sessions and production of deliverables
Knowledge of commercial insurance lines.
Collaborative style with the ability to lead through influence.
Insurance Broker License (or willingness to acquire upon joining).
What makes you stand out:
Experience with captive operations and similar entities
Insurance fronting experience
Familiarity with actuarial methodologies and analysis
Familiarity with FAPI and other relevant tax considerations
Ability to conduct business in both English and French is an asset
Ability to present, and advise on, complex risk issues at the Executive level
Ability to identify multi-dimensional client issues and leverage internal expertise to develop integrated risk management solutions

The applicable base salary range for this role is $101,000 to $245,000.
The base pay offered will be determined on factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, education, and any applicable minimum wage requirements. Decisions will be determined on a case-by-case basis. In addition to the base salary, this position may be eligible for performance-based incentives.
