Roles and Responsibilities

  • On-site Supervision: Oversee and coordinate trades for various projects across Vancouver, ensuring all construction activities are conducted safely and efficiently.
  • Collaborative Coordination: Work closely with the management team, including the Project Manager and subcontractors, to maintain the construction schedule and swiftly resolve any issues.
  • Project Adherence: Ensure projects are constructed according to drawings, specifications, schedules, and budgets.
  • Stakeholder Relationships: Establish and maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including the community.
  • Recovery Strategies: Develop strategies to address potential schedule or budget risks.
  • Field Documentation: Maintain necessary field documentation, including safety reports, progress updates, rental records, and logs.
  • Leadership and Mentorship: Provide leadership to peers and mentor, coach, and train project personnel, ensuring adherence to the company’s safety culture.
  • Subcontractor Meetings: Organize and lead weekly meetings with subcontractors.
  • Safety and Compliance: Verify safety compliance for all labor forces, including subcontractors, and enforce all safety and quality-control policies.
  • Daily Reports: Ensure completion of daily journals, health and safety documentation, and maintenance records by the team.
  • Specification and Drawing Analysis: Analyze specifications and drawings to create construction plans and schedules prior to mobilization.
  • Problem Resolution: Research and recommend solutions to design problems, including conflicts and errors, in collaboration with Project Managers and Coordinators.
  • Resource Planning: Plan and implement schedules to ensure proper manpower, equipment, and subcontractors are available as needed.
  • Meeting Participation: Attend and occasionally lead project meetings with internal and external parties to monitor and support project progress.
  • Cost Reporting: Review cost reports with Project Managers to identify and correct budget deviations.
  • Additional Responsibilities: Complete other tasks as assigned by the Construction Manager and Senior Management.

Education of the Candidate

  • Engineering Degree (preferably in Civil Engineering) or Construction Management Degree.

Experience of the Candidate

  • 5 years plus of civil construction experience.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Passion for Construction: A genuine passion for the construction industry.
  • Licensing: Valid British Columbia Driver’s License.
  • Communication Skills: Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Technical Proficiency: Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Adobe.
  • Critical Thinking: Strong critical thinking skills and attention to detail.
  • Time Management: Effective time management and organizational skills.
  • Multitasking: Ability to prioritize tasks and handle multiple responsibilities efficiently.
  • Independence and Teamwork: Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.

  • Client Communication: Excellent client-facing and internal communication skills.
  • Planning and Organization: Strong planning and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.

  • Motivation: Self-motivated and driven.
  • Work Eligibility: Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.

Good to have: Experience in Trade management, carpentry, and general labor handling
