As the regulator of Nova Scotia’s legal profession, the Nova Scotia Barristers’ Society exists to uphold and protect the public interest in the practice of law. What you’ll be doing: Reporting to the Director, Finance and Administration, the IT Manager is responsible for the oversight and planning for the Society’s various technology and information systems. You’ll have the opportunity to lead multiple IT projects including: Manage the transition and migration from on-premises servers to cloud-based applications Provide IT support for implementing a major new member management/CRM system, including a SharePoint document repository Develop information technology policies, emergency response plans and cybersecurity response plans for the organization Review the current systems, applications, and infrastructure, make recommendations, and implement a strategy to upgrade and improve systems Oversee cybersecurity initiatives to safeguard the company’s digital assets, data, and information systems, ensuring a resilient and secure environment against cyber threats and vulnerabilities The IT Manager participates in all projects and reviews regarding the Society’s information systems and policies. You will also: Develop and implement an IT strategy aligned with organizational goals Manage technology infrastructure, software and end-user hardware Oversee ongoing monitoring of current and emerging threats, risk mitigation, and privacy policy alignment Lead disaster recovery and security breach response planning, including regular system updates, staff training, and adequate backups. Conduct research, selection, and implementation of new systems, technologies and vendors Oversee essential infrastructure including servers, operating systems, cloud-based systems, end-user equipment and software are effectively managed and maintained Ensure there is effective and proactive monitoring and maintenance of network and systems Contribute to establishing and managing the budget for technology spending Oversee and determine timeframes for major IT projects including new implementations, system updates, upgrades, migrations and outages Manage performance of the Network and systems administrator, setting goals, objectives, and priorities together with the means for monitoring them and managing individual performance What we are looking for: Bachelor’s degree or college diploma in information technology, or equivalent combination of experience and education Five or more years of experience in IT management Deep knowledge of network administration, system administration, cybersecurity and current equipment and technologies Expertise in implementing, configuring, and testing IT solutions Excellent problem-solving abilities and the ability to keep projects on track and adapt to changing conditions What’s in it for you: Opportunity – Your ideas and new approaches are valued as The Nova Scotia Barristers’ Society transitions to the cloud and emphasizes evolving cybersecurity needs and project work.
