Do you believe in a housing first strategy to build community capacity?The K’asho Got’ine Housing Society (KGHS) is seeking a qualified individual to join our small and highly collaborative team, in the role of Executive Director. Reporting to the KGHS President and Board of Directors, the Executive Director is responsible for leading the organization at the strategic and operational levels, and helping to create an innovative model focused on solving northern housing challenges. KGHS was incorporated in 2016 as a non-profit organization to address Fort Good Hope’s housing challenges. Currently, the Society is focused on developing and implementing two shelter projects. Over the coming years, they will also be supporting Fort Good Hope residents in home ownership and repairs. For more information on KGHS, visit kashogotinehousingsociety.org.Interested persons are invited to submit a resume with a letter clearly indicating how they meet the following qualifications:Three to five years working in the Indigenous housing and/or northern social programming field;Knowledge of northern Indigenous cultural practices and political environments preferred;Experience with human resources, financial management, budgeting and government program delivery is required;Relevant educational background such as business management, administrative planning or a social programming related field preferred;Strong people leadership skills are required, with the ability to support, motivate and operate within an Indigenous organization;Strategic planning skills, with the ability to facilitate dialogue amongst stakeholders and community members;Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;Strong written and verbal communication skills, including engaged listening;Strong digital fluency, with the ability to operate multiple software programs to achieve objectives;Valid driver’s license (unrestricted) and ability to travel as required.Candidates who meet the required qualifications will be invited to participate in an interview and reference process. During that process, additional qualifications and skills will be assessed.Fort Good Hope is a remote largely Dene community in the NWT. Preference will be given to applicants that have prior working experience with Indigenous communities in northern Canada.If required criteria are met, preference will be given to Sahtú Beneficiaries firstly, residents of the Sahtú secondly, and to residents of the NWT and or Indigenous applicants thirdly.
