Occupational Therapist

Role DescriptionThis is a contract Occupational Therapist role at Kidstart Pediatric Therapy Inc. located in Burnaby, BC. The Occupational Therapist will be responsible for providing therapy services to pediatric patients, collaborating with medical professionals, designing rehabilitation programs, and communicating with parents and caregivers.Below is the main responsibilities:- Evaluate clients' physical, cognitive, and psychosocial abilities, work with clients and their families to set OT goals which are occupation focused and are targeted, measurable outcomes- Develop individualized treatment plans based on clients' needs and goals, provide direct service, consultation, mediation and education to client, familyand community providers with a focus on maximizing a child’s function in theareas of self-care; productivity (school and play skills) and leisure (community participation)- Monitor and document clients' progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care- Utilize research to establish and support evidence-based practice-Provision of in-school consultations to parents and/or teachers as and when neededQualifications - Excellent patient care skills, including empathy, active listening, and effective communication - Proficiency in conducting assessments and developing treatment plans - Ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team - Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills - Knowledge of adaptive equipment and techniques for improving functional abilities
