Position Overview:

Reporting to the Senior Contract manager, the Contract Manager role plays a critical part in our organization, with responsible for managing Finning’s mid to largest customer agreements of $100K to $100M in revenue. The Contract Manager needs to be fully aware of the benefits, potential risks, and other necessary details of each contract Finning is signatory on.

Job Description:

  • Responsible for Continuous Improvement to existing company contract policies to ensure compliance and reduce any potential risks.
  • Achieve or exceed targets set for contract adherence,profitability and contract pricing updates .
  • Ensure that the Blueprint process is thoroughly followed and adhered to and that any deficiencies are addressed and communicated, where appropriate, in a timely manner to Mining Management.
  • Develop, initiate and manage contract management best practices and processes, define roles and responsibilities, and educate, support and provide expertise to internal stakeholders on contract management.
  • Thoroughly understand Caterpillar equipment and all aspects of contract life cycle costing, and transfer knowledge gained to Mining Management, Product Support, Mining Account Managers and Underground Mining Systems Management through liaising with various key knowledge holders.
  • Ensure that contractual requirements, terms, obligations, and rights are adhered to, by the customer and Finning (Canada), are enforced and upheld by contract owners in a timely manner and that contract deadlines are met
  • Create awareness and responsiveness, and increase understanding of contract owners and other internal stakeholders on all contractual requirements, obligations and rights for contracts, through regular, timely communication, training, providing support and managing best practices and processes, ensuring appropriate actions are taken and initiating continuous improvement initiatives
  • Review existing contracts, assess contract life costing, obligations and terms, fully understand customer and Finning (Canada’s) contract responsibilities, determine contract accuracy and future concerns, and communicate findings to Mining Management

Education & Experience:

  • 5 -7+ years of prior contracts management experience in a mining or heavy equipment industryenvironment as an asset.
  • Deep understanding of contracts, legal and contractual language, and contract governance.
  • Critical thinking skills, research abilities, and ongoing legal knowledge.
  • Highly motivated, independent strategic thinker.
  • Leadership, coaching, mentoring, and influencing.
  • Understanding of contract management best practices, processes, and methodology, specifically contract formation, contract document preparation and pricing commercial.
  • The ability to work and thrive in a fast-paced demanding work environment with competing priorities.
