Our client is a leading law firm known for its dedication to providing exceptional legal services in Midland, Ontario, and surrounding areas. Forge Recruitment is pleased to partner with them in search of the next Real Estate Law Clerk to support their growing Real Estate Practice Group.

About the Role
As a Real Estate Law Clerk, you will play a crucial role in supporting our real estate legal team in all aspects of residential and commercial real estate transactions. With your expertise and knowledge, you will assist in facilitating smooth and efficient real estate transactions while ensuring compliance with legal regulations and requirements. The successful in cumbent will:
  • Conduct title searches, review title documents, and identify any issues or discrepancies related to real estate properties.
  • Draft and prepare legal documents, including purchase agreements, mortgages, deeds, and other relevant documents required for real estate transactions.
  • Coordinate and liaise with clients, real estate agents, lenders, and other parties involved in the transaction process to facilitate communication and ensure timely completion of transactions.
  • Manage closing processes, including scheduling closings, preparing closing statements, and coordinating fund transfers.
  • Conduct due diligence investigations on properties, including reviewing surveys, zoning by-laws, and property tax assessments.
  • Assist with the preparation and filing of land transfer tax documents and other regulatory filings.
  • Maintain organized and accurate documentation for all real estate transactions, ensuring compliance with firm protocols and legal requirements.
  • Stay updated on changes in real estate laws, regulations, and procedures to provide informed support and advice to the legal team and clients.
  • Provide administrative support to lawyers and other team members as needed, including calendar management, file organization, and client correspondence.
  • Contribute to a positive and collaborative work environment by actively participating in team meetings, sharing insights, and offering support to colleagues.

What You Bring
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working as a Real Estate Law Clerk in a law firm setting, with a strong understanding of real estate transaction processes and documentation.
  • Proficiency in conducting title searches, drafting legal documents, and managing real estate closings.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple deadlines effectively.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with clients and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in using legal software and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Knowledge of relevant real estate laws, regulations, and procedures in Ontario.
  • Diploma or certificate in Law Clerk or related field is preferred.
