We self-perform most disciplines providing time, cost, and scheduling efficiencies, as well as in-house expertise, resulting in seamless performance for our clients.LocationThis person will work on a large transit rail project in Ottawa, ON.ResponsibilitiesBe responsible for ensuring project meets/exceeds financial objectives by overseeing and monitoring each stage of development.Coordinates daily/weekly meetings with other superintendents and project engineers to develop project means/methods, schedule contracting needs, and long lead delivery times.Manage electrical field operations and work sequence in conjunction with the Project Manager.Oversee and approve monthly job cost updates and quarterly cash flow projections. Review, approve, and negotiate change orders.Establish work plans and staffing needs for each phase of the project, work closely with Project Manager and HR team to manage relationship with staff and craft employees.Form and lead an effective project management team, define, and delegate management responsibilities and set goals.Resolve any unexpected technical difficulties and other problems that may arise.Be an effective leader and communicate with department leads and other project personnel regarding work scopes.Ensure electricians and engineers understand and execute work as required by client/project specifications.Ensure safety, quality, and production is always maintained.Responsible for project closeout: securing loose ends by finishing paperwork, obtaining retainages, supporting supervisors, and expediting claims.QualificationsBachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or a related field is an asset.At least 5 years of work experience managing electrical aspects of commercial construction projects with a proven track record of successful outcomes.Strong understanding of project scheduling, cost control, project owner specifications, engineering drawings, and other project documents/reports.The ability to work successfully both independently and as a team to meet project goals and deadline.Strong work ethic - willing to do what it takes to get the job done the first time.Good attention to detail with the ability to recognize discrepancies.Effective oral and written communication skills.Strong organization and time management skills.Other RequirementsRegular, reliable attendanceWork productively and meet deadlines timelyCommunicate and interact effectively and professionally with supervisors, employees, and others individually or in a team environmentPerform work safely and effectively.
