Along with a robust grounding in their chosen disciplines, MacEwan students are given durable life skills that prepare them to take on the world.The Department of Anthropology, Economics, and Political Science in the Faculty of Arts and Science invites applications for a full-time tenure-track appointment in Anthropology, with expertise in Indigenous Studies, at the rank of Assistant Professor, commencing July 1st, 2025, subject to final budgetary approval.You will have a combination of lived experiences grounded in Indigenous ways of knowing, being, and doing, and a graduate degree in Anthropology, Native/Indigenous Studies, Indigenous Language Revitalization, or a related field. You will demonstrate a primary commitment to undergraduate teaching and will develop and maintain a research program. In addition to teaching first and second-year anthropology courses in cultural or linguistic anthropology, you will be expected to teach ANTH 250: Introduction to Indigenous Peoples in Canada and ANTH 340: Indigeneity in Canada and will have the opportunity to develop a new suite of courses in your area of expertise.You will have post-secondary teaching experience that provides evidence of excellence or clear promise of excellence in teaching both junior and senior undergraduate-level courses, and will demonstrate the ability to incorporate undergraduates into your research program.You will submit a cover letter, curriculum vitae, teaching dossier (including recent teaching evaluations), and a statement of research interests.Shortlisted candidates may also be asked to provide evidence of their history of community engagement through examples of previous collaboration, and/or letters of support from an Indigenous Community.Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted by the Department Chair to provide three (3) letters of reference sent directly from referees.Only selected candidates will be required to submit official transcripts sent directly from the institutions where you completed your degrees.Questions about this opportunity may be addressed to Dr. Gaelan Murphy, Department Chair of Anthropology, Economics, and Political Science at [email protected] position is included under the Faculty Association collective agreement.MacEwan University is committed to fostering the principles of equity, diversity, and inclusion within our community, and we are dedicated to removing barriers that have been historically encountered and are currently experienced by some members of our society.
