POSITION SUMMARYThe Manager, Environment is responsible for overseeing the environmental management programs across the organization to ensure compliance with environmental laws, regulations, and industry best practices. The role involves identifying priorities and developing strategies and programs to minimize the environmental impact of mining activities, ensuring continuous improvement in the Company’s environmental performance.The incumbent will work closely with other departments, such as Projects, Exploration, Operations, Supply Chain, and Strategy, and requires strong interaction with each site’s Health & Safety, Community Relations, Communication, Permitting, and Environment Departments.KEY RESPONSIBILITIESThe Manager, Environment will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:Environmental Strategy & Planning:Work with sites to ensure the development and implementation of environmental strategies in alignment with corporate objectives and regulatory requirements.Lead the preparation of environmental management plans, policies, and procedures tailored to the unique challenges of gold mining operations.Regulatory Compliance:Establish processes to ensure all activities comply with local, regional, and national environmental regulations, including permitting, reporting, and monitoring requirements.Support monitoring changes in environmental legislation and adapt company practices accordingly.Environmental Monitoring & Reporting:Oversee the implementation of comprehensive environmental monitoring programs (water, air, soil, biodiversity, reclamation and closure, etc.) to assess the impact of operations.Coordinate corporate lead environmental audits and inspections and help address any non-compliance issues promptly.Provide updates, presentations and reports to senior management and the Sustainability Committee of the Board of Directors.Sustainability & Conservation Initiatives:Drive sustainability initiatives aimed at reducing the environmental footprint of mining operations, including waste management, water conservation, and energy efficiency projects.Promote biodiversity conservation and land rehabilitation efforts post-mining operations.Risk Management:Identify potential environmental risks and lead the implementation of mitigation strategies to reduce the likelihood of environmental incidents.Lead investigations and root-cause analysis of environmental incidents and ensure corrective and preventive actions are implemented.Team Leadership & Development:Lead through influence to develop teams of environmental professionals, providing training, guidance, and performance management.Foster a culture of environmental awareness and responsibility across the organization through training, workshops, and awareness programs.Stakeholder Engagement:In alignment with the corporate community stakeholder engagement plans, engage with community groups, and other external stakeholders to address environmental concerns and build positive relationships.As necessary, represent the company in public forums, environmental hearings, and stakeholder meetings.VALUESCollaboration – We succeed togetherIntegrity – We are honest and do the right thingAgility – We continuously assess, adapt and navigate to find solutionsCourage – We embrace the unknown and face changes head-onDrive – We persevere through adversity, remaining committed to delivering on our promisesQUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE & PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTSBachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).At least 7-10 years of experience in environmental management within the mining industry, with a strong preference for gold mining experience.Comprehensive knowledge of environmental legislation, permitting processes, and best practices in mining.Knowledge of relevant international environmental, social, and governance organizations and their respective guidelines and standards – e.g. GRI, CDP, ICMM, IFC, and EBRDProven experience leading environmental compliance programs and managing complex environmental issues.Strong leadership and team management skills.Excellent communication skills.Experience managing relations with various stakeholders, including community members, Indigenous Peoples and NGOs, and design/implementation of stakeholder mapping, engagement plans and community development programs.Expert knowledge of environmental, economic, social and governance issues within the mining industry.Ability to work in diverse cultures with diplomacy and an understanding of differences in international business environments.Exceptional decision-making skills, demonstrating a strategic and objective approach to challenges and opportunities.Professional certifications in environmental management (e.g., ISO 14001 Lead Auditor) are an advantage.Must be fluent in English. Fluency in other Eldorado site languages (French, Greek, or Turkish) is an asset.Ability to travel nationally or internationally; the expected travel requirement is up to ~30% per year
