The role is responsible for aligning application services to support technology needs, ensuring that application services best practices reflect appropriate technological developments. The role adaptively provides new solutions to achieve results, monitoring application services performances, results, and effectiveness to the business. The Senior Director manages activities through a team, establishing and managing the application services budget, analyzing the direction of projects, status, forecasting, and business plan information to develop recommendations for key stakeholders specific to the end-to-end lifecycle of data assets and data movement. The role communicates the vision and ensures stewardship for all application and technology, providing leadership and direction in support of key business objectives. The role leads in the development of innovative methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria to achieve broad objectives.At CIBC we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role. Lead the implementation of all data movement patterns and governance across the portfolio. Maintain industry and CIBC standards for data efficiency.Technology Innovation: Stay informed of emerging technologies to ensure that application services reflect the latest innovations and best practices. Lead efforts to enhance the perceived "return on investment" for data services across Core Banking and Payments.Team Management: Build and manage a high-performing team, providing coaching, feedback, and development opportunities. You’ll ensure your team aligns with the goals of the business unit and CIBC’s mission. Set clear expectations, manage performance, and foster a positive and motivating work environment.Cross-Functional Collaboration: Engage with internal and external partners to ensure proper implementation of data management frameworks and ensure business needs are met through application services. Collaborate with industry forums and networks to stay up-to-date on best practices and regulatory requirements.Who You AreYou can demonstrate: minimum 10-15 years of experience with Data management, Architecture, Leadership, team management, technology, risk, and budget management.Experienced Leader: You have extensive experience in data management and delivery, particularly within the financial services industry. You understand both legacy and modern technologies and can bridge the gap between business requirements and technological solutions.Technologically Savvy: Your subject matter expertise includes data lifecycle management, data architecture, and implementing data delivery frameworks. You understand the technical aspects of data across cloud and non-cloud environments.Analytical Problem-Solver: You excel at analyzing project risks, business strategies, and emerging technology trends to make informed recommendations that enhance business alignment. You provide strategic direction to senior business partners and technology executives, identifying opportunities to support new and existing products and services.Judgment and Decision-Making: You’re capable of overseeing complex, high-stakes technology operations in a volatile industry, making sound judgments that ensure the viability of project plans, technology solutions, and resource allocation. Poor decisions could result in significant financial loss, so you approach each challenge with diligence and foresight.Budget Management: You have experience supervising teams of 10+ members and managing both operating budgets of $2-5 million and capital budgets of approximately $5 million, ensuring resources are used effectively to meet business goals.People-Oriented Leader: You excel at leading teams and managing organizational change. You’re adept at risk management and ensure that teams deliver on key business goals. Your leadership fosters collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement across departments.Collaborative Partner: You build strong relationships with colleagues across departments and external partners.
