Academic Diagnostic Neuroradiologists – London

The Department of Medical Imaging, Division of Neuroradiology, Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry, at Western University, London Health Sciences Centre and St. Joseph’s Health Care is seeking two Radiologists for two full-time clinical academic appointments to Western University. Rank (Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor) and appointment status (limited term or continuing) will be determined by experience and qualifications at the time of appointment.

The Department of Medical Imaging at Western University is an integrated, city-wide, sub-specialty practice across three Hospital sites; University Hospital (UH) and Victoria Hospital (VH), collectively known as the London Health Sciences Centre (LHSC), and St Joseph’s Health Care London (St. Joseph’s). As the only Academic Health Sciences Centre in the second largest Local Health Integration Network in Ontario, the Department provides multiple regional services to a population of >2M.

There has been recent renewal of the diagnostic and interventional (CT, MR, Angiography) imaging fleet, including recent and ongoing installation of 3 new 3T MR scanners, 3 new 1.5T MR scanners, 6 new 320-slice CT scanners, 3 new biplane angiography units among other units. The institution also features the nation’s first 0.5T clinical MR scanner and dedicated neuro-imaging CBCT unit. As such, there are abundant opportunities for an enthusiastic radiologist to contribute to the continued building and advancement of an integrated, multi-disciplinary and collegial Academic Medical Imaging Department in Diagnostic Neuroradiology.

The successful candidates will join a division of 12 neuroradiologists. The division performs the full complement of modern neuroradiology. In addition to the full spectrum of adult and pediatric diagnostic neuro-imaging (CT, MRI, U/S), the division also provides comprehensive percutaneous spinal intervention. Prior training, or a demonstrable track record in a subspecialized area of neuroradiology such as pediatric and/or functional neuroradiology will be considered a bonus in support of our growing program.

The division has a long history of multi-disciplinary research, with robust established relationships with all relevant clinical neuro-disciplines. Additionally, there is a long tradition of training both residents and advanced fellows, with an uninterrupted record of training sub-specialty fellows of >40 years. To that end, a track-record of education and research excellence is a necessary pre-requisite.

Qualifications: The successful candidates will hold certification in Diagnostic Radiology with the Royal College of Physician and Surgeons of Canada or international equivalent and will need to meet the current credentialing requirements of LHSC and St. Joseph’s. Candidates must have an MD, or equivalent, and must be eligible for licensure in the province of Ontario. Subspecialty Fellowship training in diagnostic neuroradiology is required, with a preference for =2 years of subspecialty training. The successful candidate will be a self-starter, team player and willing to participate in all aspects of academic neuro-imaging including on call duties as required by the Chair/Chief of the department. The successful candidate will need to be committed to outstanding quality in clinical operations, including patient care, teaching and research. One day per week of protected research time will be available. Consideration of applicants will include an assessment of clinical experience and research productivity in neuroradiology.

Interested candidates are encouraged to contact the Division Head and the Chair-Chief for further details.
