Position Title: Team Leader, Aquatics Location: Chilliwack Cheam Leisure Centre Terms: Permanent, Full Time: 35 hours per week Shift: Shifts will vary; schedule will consist of weekdays, mornings, evenings and weekends Salary: $25.71/hr plus full benefits package Start Date: As soon as possible Reports To: Aquatics Supervisor Nature & Scope:   To work collaboratively with other members of the YMCA team to provide a safe and fun aquatics environment. The Team Leader is responsible for providing support and delivering family focused programming and services, as well as helping to monitor and support program quality. Major Responsibilities:  Provides support and leadership to staff and volunteers to ensure safe and quality programs, including training and delivering performance evaluations Guards the pool and teaches swim lessons in a positive and professional manner  Builds meaningful relationships through positive daily interaction with YMCA members, visitors, and colleagues  Promotes philanthropy through the YMCA’s annual Strong Kids Campaign  Develops lesson plans for various programs and administers progressive evaluations for participants  Ensures program design, lay-out, and offerings meet the needs of all participants at various levels  Leads program delivery, while ensuring content meets the appropriate criteria and outline  Performs general administrative duties and record keeping responsibilities  Maintains an atmosphere of achievement that inspires self and others to succeed at the highest levels  Ensures the safety of all members, participants, staff, and property by following YMCA standards/policies/procedures and ensuring they are maintained amongst all members and staff, including all locker rooms and spectator viewing areas  Maintains a neat, orderly, and clean environment, including all program areas, common spaces, and washrooms  Assists with training new staff/volunteers in procedures and practices Attends staff meetings, planning sessions and training events as required  One to Two Duty Staff Shifts per week Requirements:  Completion of Grade 12 Minimum one year supervisory experience.  Current Standard First Aid and CPR-C & AED certificate Current National Lifeguard Service (NL) pool option  YMCA Swim Instructor or equivalent YMCA Aquatic Fitness Certificate, or equivalent, is preferred  YMCA Lead Certification, or equivalent, is preferred Successful candidates will be required to provide a current and satisfactory Criminal Reference Check/Vulnerable Sector Search issued no later than six (6) months preceding your start date 3 professional references YMCA BC is committed to creating an inclusive, accessible environment where all members of our community feel valued, respected, and supported.
