Data Engineer

Job Title: Data Integration AnalystLocation: Edmonton, AB - OnsiteEmployment Type: (Full-time or contract)Duration: 12 months (possibility of extension)Job Description: We are seeking a Data Integration Analyst to help build out a data fabric. The role will involve working primarily in Microsoft Fabric to connect systems such as Dynamics 365, Agiloft, JDE, and Smart Simple. The ideal candidate will have experience with some of these platforms and will be responsible for ETL and integrating data between core systems, while working closely with the Manager, Data Platforms, and key stakeholders Responsibilities: a. Creates plans and strategies that will identify the various linkages between new and existing data forms, resulting in the integration of data models, development of data policies, and presentation of statistical analysis and data visualizations to help understand and improve service delivery online and offline. b. Supports the implementation of the data platforms (ex. Microsoft Fabric, snowflake, dataverse, databricks) and the integration of systems and applications to the fabric. c. Supports governance based on the service data model, service analytics standards, and the development of analytics tools, inclusive of both digital and non-digital service implementation. d. Works to implement, develop, and share service metrics and service performance dashboards for internal and public use. e. Facilitates and informs program area workshops about current data and performance practices. f. Troubleshooting issues related to data models, platforms, cloud services, reporting, ETL activities (Extract Transform Load). g. Mentors team members and others to develop and grow their analytics fluency. h. Researches best practices and makes recommendations for the direction of data-driven governance policies to support the adoption of digital services, and service delivery information management. i. Creates data statistical analysis and data visualizations leveraging data querying languages within available data management technologies. j. Supports corporate priorities based upon data-driven evidence by leveraging existing and new analytics, data visualizations, data modeling and storytelling. k. Other responsibilities as required or requested. Requirements / Qualifications: a. Applicable understanding of the data fabric concept and how it can be leveraged to satisfy needs for dashboards, reporting, and intelligence b. Experience with data hosting platforms and tools for efficient data storage and retrieval c. Proficient in database systems d. Technical expertise in data platforms and integration tools: Microsoft Fabric, Snowflake, Dataverse, Databricks e. Fluent in programming languages: Python, SQL a. Thorough experience with cloud platforms for data processing, management, and reporting f. Experience designing and managing data infrastructure for structured and unstructured data g. Extensive experience in solving data challenges and business problems through technology and change management h. Experience in developing and maintaining relationships with stakeholders to understand requirements, resolve conflicts, and sharing information i. Experience with using data visualization tools (ex. PowerBI, Tableau, etc.) to convey information and insights to non-technical staff j. Experience leading data science and analytics initiatives and workshops k. Excellent written, presentation, and verbal communication skills l. Experience collaborating with stakeholders to identify business requirements and translating them into effective data solutions m. Experience working with cross-functional teams in a public sector organization n. Experience with agile and waterfall project delivery
