We are accepting applications for the term position of Special Education Teacher at T’lisalagi’lakw School. We are a First Nations operated Group Two Independent school with Grades K-7 full days. The staff contingent includes the Principal, Vice-Principal, teachers, education assistants, cultural workers and support staff.Job ResponsibilitiesProvide inquiry based, problem solving based and project based learning opportunitiesImplement specialized instructional intervention methods and approachesDevelop, implement and oversee Individual Education PlansDevelop and implement accommodative and augmentative supportsPrepare and deliver long term, monthly and daily lesson plan activitiesEnsure that students’ overall needs for achieving success are metCollaborate with Teachers, Education Assistants and Cultural Workers regularly and as required to enhance learning outcomesDevelop relationships with parents to collaborate for enhancing learning outcomesEnforce the school discipline policyParticipate as a member of the school supervisory and extra-curricular teams as requiredProvide written student evaluation reports and attend parent-teacher conferencesEnsure that accurate and complete student records are maintainedJob QualificationsBachelor of Education, Special Education certification preferredMember in good standing with the BC College of Teachers2 years’ special education teaching in a First Nations environment preferredSatisfactory criminal records and vulnerable sector searchIf you are interested in this position you may submit your covering letter & resume to: (This position will remain open until filled)
