By providing the majority of mechanical requirements in-house, including engineering, 3D-design, sheet metal, HVAC, refrigeration, and controls, we are a “ONE-STOP” shop for any project.Purpose of Position: The Mechanical Designer/Engineer will play a key role in our design team, responsible for executing projects from the initial design phase through to construction completion. This role ensures adherence to OPM standards and codes, meets and exceeds client expectations while continuously improving project efficiency and cost-effectiveness.Reporting Structure:Mechanical Designer reports directly to the Design Team LeadWhat We Offer:Competitive base salary of $110,000 to $130,000 CND per year D.O.ECompany paid benefits including Extended Health, Dental, Vision, Life, AD&D, LTD, Critical Illness, EAP$500 per year to direct towards a Health Spending Account or a Personal Spending AccountGRSP matching up to 4%Three (3) weeks’ vacationExcellent company cultureCorporate eventsPrimary Responsibilities:Mentor, lead, and develop mechanical design professionals on various projectsConduct load calculations and design briefs for mechanical equipment sizing and selectionDesign HVAC, Plumbing and Fire Protection SystemsCollaborate with other disciplines on the project design team to integrate mechanical requirementsCoordinate service requirements/connections with utility and/or municipal agencies Attend project progress meeting and provide updates to the assigned direct report.Prepare tender and construction documentation including specifications Conduct construction administration including shop drawings reviews, field reviews, site surveys and final inspectionsAssist in the development of training material, design workshops, presentations, and other educational resources for junior staffProvide technical support to the internal BIM clash detection team in resolving conflicts between different building services systems, the building structure, and the building architecture Provide technical support to OPM construction team and sub-trades for troubleshooting and time/cost-efficient installation processExperience, Education & Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related disciplineMinimum 10 years design experience in HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Protection systems (minimum 5 years within Canada)Professional Engineers (P.Eng) or Applied Science Technologist (AScT) preferredKnowledge of the BC Building Code, Vancouver By-Laws, ASHRAE, CSA, CCSC, ASPE, NFPA and other applicable codesLEED Accredited Professional designation or Green Building Certification is an assetKnowledge of American building services codes and standards (SMC, WSMC, CMC Title 24, UPC, etc.) is considered an assetSkills & Proficiencies: Proficiency with Revit, Bluebeam Revu, Navisworks, Procore, and Trace 700Ability to interpret architectural, structural, landscaping, civil and electrical drawings with minimum supervisionProven English verbal and written communication skillsStrong organizational and multi-tasking skills to meet sensitive timelinesCollaborative teamwork skills to achieve organizational goalsSelf-motivated and proactive in handling a wide variety of tasksConfident decision-making skills and high ethical standardsExcellent interpersonal skills and a high level of professionalism #J-18808-Ljbffr
