OFFICE OF EQUITY

NorQuesters are difference makers and we’re searching for someone dedicated to making a difference to join our Office of Equity team as our Manager to lead the way.

Reporting to the Director of Equity within the College Life portfolio, this position is responsible for the creation, implementation, and evaluations of structures to achieve the goals set in the NorQuest 2030: We Are Who We Include of becoming an inclusive, anti-racist, and decolonized institution.

In close partnership with the Director of Equity this position will focus on the strategic and operational day-to-day components of creating a safe and inclusive working environment for those who chose to work and learn at the College. The Manager of the Office of Equity will lead the Equity Team in the design and implementation of projects, processes, and initiatives aimed at addressing systemic inequities within NorQuest College.

This position will engage in meaningful consultation and collaboration to inform approaches and will partner with key stakeholders and the NorQuest community to help ensure an equitable and inclusive environment for all. This position will introduce research and evaluation process within the Office of Equity.

HOW YOU’LL MAKE A DIFFERENCE

  • Coordinate and guide EDI, Anti-Racism, and Indigenization strategies, projects, and initiatives from the Office of Equity.
  • Manage and lead the Office of Equity, including the preparation of quarterly work plans, budgets, briefing notes, and reports.
  • Facilitate strategic planning and implementation with internal partners and stakeholder to evaluate, refine, and improve our current services and implement changes to reflect new approaches/changes.
  • Effectively communicate and prioritize the ongoing development of relationships, trust, and psychological safety across the division.
  • Lead and contribute to policy development and implementation relevant to the Office of Equity (ex: Anti-Racism Policy, Reflection Room Procedure)
  • Oversee recruitment, orientation, mentoring of new employees and the development of their schedules, workloads, and vacation planning.
  • Build the annual business/operational plans and hold team accountable for results, manage workload, and develop the skills and capabilities of staff to meet growing demand.
  • Set goals and objectives, provide feedback, coach for performance, develop technical, analytical and interpersonal skills of the team.
  • Manage the operational budget and cost centre; includes informing and recommending the baseline, variance reporting, forecasting, and year-end closure processes.
  • Oversee the implementation and evaluation of the EDI Action Plan, GDEIB Benchmarking, Anti-Racism Roadmap, and future strategies.
  • Conduct research and with approval from the Director of Equity, apply for relevant grants related to EDI, Accessibility, Anti-Racism, and Decolonization/Indigenization. If successful for grant develop and implement operational and work plans to achieve goals stated in the grant
  • Identify key stakeholders in the external community and build communities of practices across post-secondary and public institutions.
  • Assist with the preparation of communication materials including reports and evaluations.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Arts, Business, HR Equity, Diversity and Inclusion or Adult Education. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum 7 years of related experience.
  • 5 years of progressive experience in leadership or management roles, preferably in post-secondary and/or public institutions.
  • 3-5 years of experience related to leading EDI, anti-racism, or indigenization development and implementation at an organization-wide level, preferably in complex organizations.
  • Working knowledge of computer applications (specifically, MS Office suite, including Teams and Microsoft BI).
  • Working knowledge of project management and collaboration tools would be an asset.

  • Experience in developing and implementing issues managements plans.

  • Superior communication, organization, collaboration, change management, problem solving, time management and facilitation skills are required in our complex, rapidly changing environment.
  • Strong influencing skills and ability to work with complexity and ambiguity.
  • Experience in strategic planning, developing, and guiding councils/committees.

SALARY: $98,462 - $123,048 annually,reflective upon what you bring AKA your education and experience. This is a full-timepermanent position with immediate access to our great pension and benefit programs.
