We’re looking for a… In-Community Program Facilitator (Contract) Job Summary Tims Camps has added a new In-School Community Program stream where we bring camp to schools and community groups to help overcome barriers of accessibility and geography. The In-School Program takes the best of what happens at camp and brings it to school gyms, playgrounds and community spaces serving low-income neighbourhoods. Reporting to the In-Community Program Specialist the In-Community Program Facilitator, is responsible for delivering Tims Camps programming at schools and community group spaces. They create an inclusive and supportive environment which enable youth to develop tangible skills set out in the Tims Camps Program Framework. This is done through briefing, leading and debriefing activities to draw out understanding and self-awareness. In-Community Program Facilitators read the abilities of their group and adjust activities accordingly. They are responsible for assessing and managing risk and ensuring Tims Camps program and wellness standards are followed. Work Location Daily travel is required within the assigned geographic area, (Southwestern Ontario). This role will have an assigned home base at the Home Office location, in St. George, Ontario. Employment type This is a contract role with an anticipated start date of August 19, 2024, until June 2025. Posting Type External and Internal. This posting will seek interest from potential candidates with experience working in and navigating with key stakeholders, such as teachers and administrators, child and youth workers, outdoor educators, camp organizations and/or child centered community agencies. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Deliver high-quality, intentional programming designed to meet specific outcomes and develop positive skills. Establish relationships with participants that reflect respect, trust, and empathy. Inspire young people to discover their strengths, challenge limits, and build resilience and leadership capacity in a safe and supportive environment. Encourage participants’ development through their own processing and readiness and recognize their achievements. Identify, assess, and appropriately manage risks and respond to risks, ensuring the safety of participants, guests, and staff at all times. Ensure program areas are organized and in good repair prior to the start of an activity. Ensure participants and staff are properly trained in activities and follow safety protocols. Contribute positively to the team and culture. Deliver programs in accordance with Tims Camps and accrediting body standards. Report incidents and complete the appropriate documentation. Support cross functional tasks as required. QUALIFICATIONS 2 years of experience working with children/youth of various abilities, preferably in an education/experiential setting. University degree and/or college background in Education, Outdoor Experiential Education or related field considered an asset. Ability to exercise good judgement and professionalism when interacting with schools and community groups. Experienced facilitator. Demonstrates ability to adapt facilitation style based on individual and/or group needs. Skilled in behaviour management and problem solving. Current Standard First Aid/CPR-C certification considered an asset. Access to a personal vehicle and licensed with a valid G Class Driver’s License, or equivalent (required). Daily travel required within designated geographic area. Must be able to work a flexible schedule which could include working early mornings, evenings and weekends. Able to provide an acceptable criminal background check or vulnerable sector check.
