Assistant or Associate Professor – University of CalgaryInstitution: University of CalgaryAssistant or Associate Professor (Teaching & Research or Teaching Only) Veterinary AnesthesiologistThe University of Calgary, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (UCVM) invites applications for a full time or part time Veterinary Anesthesiologist in either the Teaching and Research stream or the Teaching focused stream. Full time applications are preferred. UCVM offers the possibility of achieving tenure through both traditional (Teaching and Research stream) and teaching track positions, with the latter not requiring development of research. For candidates with an interest in research, UCVM has enviable access and existing collaborations with the Cumming School of Medicine at the University of Calgary. Depending on qualifications and career track expectations, the appointment will be made at the rank of Assistant Professor, Teaching and Research (tenure track), Assistant Professor, Teaching (tenure track), Associate Professor, Teaching and Research (with tenure) or Associate Professor, Teaching (with tenure).The successful candidate will be appointed in the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine. The anticipated start date is January 1, 2025 or a mutually agreed upon date.Qualifications:DVM (or equivalent) and board certification (DACVAA and/or Dipl. ECVAA) is preferred but board eligible ACVAA or ECVAA residency trained candidates will be considered. An additional graduate degree is considered an asset. The candidate must be eligible for immediate licensure in the Province of Alberta.Appointment Requirements:For Assistant Professor (Teaching): Evidence or promise of teaching effectiveness, competency in teaching and learning, and engagement in research and scholarship.For Associate Professor (Teaching): Evidence of teaching effectiveness, ability to apply scholarly approaches to teaching and learning, and continuous development of innovative teaching.For Assistant Professor: Evidence or promise of original high-quality research and scholarship, and ability to obtain funding may be required.For Associate Professor: Established academic program of national recognition, high-quality research, and evidence of teaching effectiveness.Teaching-focused stream: Majority of time to teaching within UCVM and predominantly within the anesthesia curriculum.Teaching and research stream: Time allocated for research in addition to teaching; establish an active research program.The University of Calgary has a Distributed Veterinary Teaching Hospital and clinical time is spent in clinics in the community.
