As a Pier Solutions project manager, you will be tasked with overseeing construction projects and providing technical services. This is the perfect job for you if you strive to merge technical engineering and practical construction services. As you grow in your responsibilities, there is an opportunity for promotion to a regional manager.Your responsibilities may include the following:Leading multiple projects at a time, both on-site and from your office.Supporting all aspects of construction work, including: developing proposals for various contract modelspreparing estimates for quoted and tendered worklight on-site labour to assist construction crewsmanaging schedules, materials, and subcontractorsaiding in job cost trackingpreparing and submitting environmental management planssupporting the safety coordinator in completing daily and project specific safety requirementsreporting on project progress, offering viable solutions and opportunities as they arisesubmitting and tracking RFIs, change orders, and site instructions.Providing technical services, including:bridge/structure inspections, maintenance plans, load ratings, as well as other design serviceswriting technical reports and reviewing proposals and estimates.As you grow in your leadership abilities, your job will transition to working together with the SK director of operations to do the following:Ensuring exceptional client relations, including:building relationships with new clientsmanaging client communication during projects, communicating customer issues and devising ways for improving the customer experience, including resolving problems and complaints.Building a people-centred southern SK Pier bridge team, including:providing guidance and mentorship to junior project managerssupporting crews to ensure smooth operationsimplementing corporate policies and processes. Responsibilities will be added over time.Education and ExperienceCivil engineering degree with a P.Eng. designationThree plus years of project management and/or bridge engineering experience is preferredFive plus years of experience within the construction industry is preferredCAPM designation or equivalent (at least entry-level) is preferredConstruction/carpentry experience is considered an assetSpecialized training in timber structures is considered an asset Skills and CompetenciesClient-facing, internal, and written communicationPlanning, scheduling, budgeting, and estimatingConflict resolutionEffective communication with trade contractors, citizens, and technical/design teamOffering superb client experiences through effective managementJuggling many responsibilities in the field and at the officeStrong attention to detail and accuracy, and commitment to well-constructed projectsClass 5 license Our MissionBridges in rural Manitoba and Saskatchewan are being replaced instead of repaired or neglected instead of maintained, adding undue cost to taxpayers.Our Solution: we collaborate with local leaders to provide fiscally responsible, proactive, and preventative maintenance options.Our Advantage: we empower clients by uniquely combining engineering and construction expertise. Our clients include municipal, provincial, and federal governments, First Nations peoples, short-line rail companies, and trail associations.
