Field Operations Manager - Kootenays We are looking for a Field Operations Manager to join the Sutco Transportation team in Castlegar, BC. This role will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Residual (Wood Chips) Driver fleet in the Kootenays, as well as supporting other divisions as necessary. The role will also utilize strong communication to build and maintain relationships with suppliers and customers. This is a full-time, Monday to Friday day-shift position that requires after-hours availability and on-call duties as assigned. The Field Operations Manager will report to the Senior Field Operations Manager. It is our great pleasure to extend the following benefits to all Sutherland Group team members: Pension Program with Sutherland Group matching contributions up to 100%, starting at 3%, increasing in graduated increments and topping out at 5% after 8 years.Extended health benefits program through a cost shared benefits planConfidential Employee Family Assistance Program Health & Safety Policy & Programs  KEY RESPONSIBILITIES   Ensure all actions incorporate “Sutherland Group Enterprise's Core Values” of Curious and Adaptable, Trustworthy, Humbly Confident, Better Together and Make it Happen, while working on behalf of the company. Actively contribute to a “Safety First” culture by championing and enforcing all safety-related initiatives. Provide front-line leadership and act as the direct manager for drivers on their assigned team, managing all aspects of driver relationships, including performance reviews, implementing disciplinary measures with the assistance of HR, mentoring, and coaching drivers, and identifying training needs. Participate in the strategic planning, goal setting and execution of KPIs in their respective division. Coordinate the maintenance and inventory at yards or facilities assigned to them. Provide support as required for truck & trailer repairs and maintenance. Communicate key messaging to drivers.  Collaborate with dispatch and planning to solve driver issues or adjust assignments as required. Assist in growing potential business by communicating with assigned customer contacts.  Build and maintain relationships with vendors. Attend all required meetings, including the Sutco Field Manager Level 10. Conduct regular driver spot checks, ensuring that all drivers comply with regulations and company procedures.  Actively participate in accident investigations, as requested. Provide 24-hour support to driving staff in an on-call rotation. Other duties as assigned by Senior Field Operations Manager.   REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS  As a member of the Sutco Transportation team, we expect you bring the following to the table: 5+ years of supervisory experience within the transportation industry. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills. Working knowledge of provincial and federal transportation regulations. Class 1 Driver's Licence with air brake endorsement.Strong attention to detail, with an ability to assist in budget development and a knowledge of the billing process. Strong organizational skills.Excellent interpersonal and critical thinking skills.Mechanically inclined, able to troubleshoot malfunctioning equipment.Intermediate computer skills, with the ability to navigate Outlook, Word and Excel, and learn new technological systems and processes.Excellent multitasking and prioritizing skills.Available to respond to work-related situations outside of regular business hours. Acceptable driver's abstract, based on the Sutherland Group's abstract review policy.Must be able to enter the US for work purposes.Able to lift supplies, parts and materials up to 50 lbs.  JOIN THE TEAM If you think there's a fit, we look forward to meeting you and thank you in advance for your application.
