Morison Insurance is currently seeking an Accounting Manager to oversee our accounting team and to join our team of insurance professionals! This role is located on-site, Monday - Friday. Position Responsibilities General Oversee the Accounting Department Monitor the financial performance of the company Monitor and manage transaction data Assist in the preparation of monthly and annual operating budgets Develop and manage financial controls in accordance with the company’s procedures Communicate financial metrics to the leadership team Contribute to and/or complete special projects as assigned Actively participate in the success of the team Transactions Ensure that accounts payable are paid in a timely manner Ensure that accounts receivable is collected promptly. Maintain a system of controls over accounting transactions Administration & Reporting Issue timely and complete interim financial statements for management monthly Calculate and issue financial and operating metrics Calculate variances from the budget and report significant issues to management Provide for a system of management cost reports Maintain and enforce a documented system of accounting policies and procedures Prepare government returns and remittances and payments Skills You Will Need To Succeed 5+ years experience in a private firm, preferably in an Insurance/financial environment Bachelor's Degree in accounting or equivalent CPA preferred, CPA enrolled in final stages or recently designated considered an asset Ability to perform a wide range of accounting and finance activities Experience with our EPIC (our BMS) is an asset Demonstrated experience managing multiple concurrent projects in a dynamic fast-paced environment An affinity for exploring and using new software tools to drive continuous improvement Experience managing budgets and resources Very strong communication, task management, and prioritization skills Values We Live By Go Beyond - Be exceptional, shine brightly Evolve - Think outside the box Own It - Empowered to deliver Our Promise - Do the right thing Unified - Together as one What We Offer Competitive salary RRSP Matching Plan Group Benefits Plan (health, dental, vision) Employee Assistance Program 4-weeks of vacation Paid personal days and extra days off at Christmas Monday to Friday work schedule – 8:30 am - 4:30pm Growing insurance brokerage with access to many markets Continuing Education Modern offices and technology that supports teamwork, skills development and collaboration Our offices close early on Fridays of long weekends from May to October Full commission on employee home and auto policies Accommodations Morison Insurance prides itself on being an equal opportunity employer.
